Beware of "The Big Cat" and "Chark Attack"

White making a case for Bednarik, Butkis, and Nagurski awards

Devin White is a monster. He's all over the field from start to finish. It's hard to believe that he is only two years removed from HS. If he keeps improving, he could be a perennial Pro Bowler for years to come.

When you get back-to-back SEC Defensive Player of the Week awards against SEC competition (Florida and Auburn at that), that is a serious accomplishment. I think everyone is sold on Devin White now.

What’s impressive to me about White is that he was being this impactful even before Key returned to the lineup. It’s not like he is simply playing cleanup. He flat out has a nose for the football and doesn’t miss tackles.

When he blitzes up the middle, it's scary. I would not want to be a QB with him blitzing. With that said, there was an Auburn player that absolutely blew him up at the last second on a block when he was blitzing. It will probably be the only time I will witness that happen.

Devin White is just a beast. With how he has been playing, and if he keeps it up throughout his time here, not only will he go down as one of the best MLBs in LSU history, but SEC history as well. Dude is just a beast.
Him talking with and listening to Les Miles to move to MLB was a great move. Not only did it increase his chances of getting on the field and playing earlier/more, it also has the potential to increase his length of career in the NFL. At this point, he will most certainly be a pretty high round/overall draft pick and if he can sustain the success, playing LB instead of RB should allow him to play in the league a lot longer, as his body will take less punishment. He'll be dishing it out, instead of taking it. What a great decision.
We all figured he could do good there bc of his play in high school, but he was thought to come here and play RB instead. With the way the numbers ended up and making his decision to switch to the defense a little easier, it was a blessing in disguise.
Just heard of 104.5's "Sports Today" that he is averaging 11 tackles a game this year and leads the SEC in tackles altogether. The next closest personal to him is 22 tackles behind.
Congrats to DW and DJ, 2 great players for LSU and 2 great examples of good people as well.

Our defense has come a long way since the days of DJ Welter in the middle

quote:Different classes, but point taken. Moses is a freshman and mainly playing ST and a few snaps at LB this year at Bama. Hasn't really recorded many tackles this year. Whether it be his time on ST or his very limited time playing LB in game.

Being that he's a freshman and DW is a sophomore, I think the more fair comparison will be Moses to Jacob Phillips and Tyler Taylor. But even then, we're talking about DM, who is an OLB according to recruiting services, and JP and TT, who are ILBs according to recruiting services. And by that measure, I'm not sure if by position if there's a fair comparison until careers play out a bit more bc again, just looking at 247 and ESPN (I know many here don't like their recruiting services, but I'm at work and quickly googled) LSU didn't sign any OLBs according to high school positions and recruiting sites. I know Aranda's system may use DEs and OLBs or vica versa, but I'm at work and just looking at the services real quick.
Anyways, that was a long winded enough response

If Chavis was here Devin White would be riding the pine behind Donnie Alexander.

Last year I said DW would be an All American for us if he was able to stay healthy. Part of me would still love to see him carry the ball. He is so fast and strong.
I want to see him wearing 7 next year. Full circle back to Ali Highsmith, who started it. Plus, Trev Faulk also wore it. DW better than both.
