Is this country "racist" or are we actually just "prejudiced"?

Everyone likes to call other people "racist" but do they actually believe that person is "racist" or are they simply prejudiced? People say that everyone is at least a little bit racist but I disagree whole heatedly with that statement. Do I search for muslims when I'm about to board a plane? Absolutely! Do I avoid the hood if at all possible? Yep. Am I shocked when the news reports another murder or shooting in north Baton Rouge? Nope. Is it no secret that white guys are usually the fricked up assholes committing mass shootings? Yep!
That doesn't mean I'm racist. It means I'm probably a bit prejudiced and stereotype groups of people based on past behavior of individuals of the same group.
Racism is rounding up black men and hanging them because they're black. Racism is not hiring or firing someone based on their race. Racism is singling out people of a certain race and causing intentional harm based on their race. Racism is the 1960's. Racism is 1800's slavery in America. Racism is NOT really a person's thoughts as much as it is a person's ACTION. This is not to say true racism doesn't exist in America today, because it does. I just believe that 90% of what people today call "racist" is not truly racist and it just indicates a lack of understanding on their part and the part of those who fall for it.
Maybe my president can explain this further one day on the national stage and open peoples' eyes better than I can.
Just some thoughts on this Thursday morning.

I was once called racist for saying certain Indian food smelled like shite.

People go straight to "racist" because it has the most shock value. They don't care if it is accurately used. To answer your question....
In many cases where people are called racist, they are merely displaying forms of prejudice.

Stereotyping is human nature IMO. It’s instincts we’ve developed over time
Also just because a country has some racists doesn’t mean we’re a racist country

The problem is the way the conversation is framed.
One group believes racism and oppression is alive and well. Anyone who does not agree with them is either racist themselves, or complicit in the ongoing oppression.
When in reality, one group believes racism and oppression is alive and well, while the other group is just like, "Eh... I don't really see it."

Because I am a white Republican I am now labeled a racist and white supremacist. That is how the democrats hope to win upcoming elections.
This will backfire badly for the democratic party and those who believe and perpetuate this.

The ones who cry racist are, in fact, racist themselves.

I’m not
I just hate everyone

I'm just "racist" against lazy, nonproductive members of society.

I'm not racist, I'm an equal opportunity hater.
The country that twice overwhelmingly elected a black man to be president is not racist.
Are there racist in the USA yes but we are not a racist country.
If someone/something is allegedly racist, call out the specific example and we'll handle it but blanket statements don't work and have no teeth i.e., systematic racism.

White dudes smell like chicken noodle soup when I guard them in a pickup game. That's all I got.

We are one of the least racist, homophobic, and sexist countries in the world

I 100% agree with you. I tried to explain this to my friend who called me racist, and he didn't understand and said I was wrong. I don't hate certain groups of people, I just pre judge them. Basically judging a book by its cover before getting to know them... that's what most of us do and that is prejudice.
