Neither were impeached.

The Senate votes to impeach and did not do so in either case.

Discuss why OP has such poor knowledge of history.

However, the only US President to leave office because of the power of impeachment was a Republican.

Odd that Johnson was a Democrat when Lincoln was a Republican. He was impeached because he was not hard enough on the south. I can't say he was a bad person unlike Clinton. Johnson was only impeached because the Republicans in Congress were assholes.

And the only U.S. President to leave office (alive) before his term had ended was a Republican. What's your point?

During Nixon's reign he had a house justice committee vote against him on 2 potential charges. He then resigned when further evidence emerged, before the full house could vote on his impeachment.

NB: of the 5 charges put to the vote, there was no charge where a majority of republicans on the committee voted against him. For shame.
