Agree with you 100% on all of this. Ogeron not only lied about letting his coordinators call the game but he watched Miles get fired for doing exactly that. I dunno about you but I think our season is totally different if Canada was allowed to run his offense free and clear of Ogerons involvement. We would probly be undefeated or at least only a close loss to State had he kept his word. For that he gets no slack and if it doesn't change he'll be fired. Grimes is horrible he's the one who put the idea if having 5 run blocking guards on the field in Miles head. He should've been the first guy canned in all of this. Miles first oline cycle included Joe Barksdale and Ciron Black, one is an NFL veteran starter and the other started and anchored the national title team as a true freshman at LSU. So the trend of Miles not recruiting top tackles wasn't always the case for him it was Grimes who started this. Miles deserves blame because ultimately it was his decision but Miles isn't our problem anymore Grimes is.

The oline wasn't a problem in 08, the offense avged over 30ppg with Lee as the starter and Charles Scott had a big year rushing, it was the defense that failed in 08. In 09 Miles first cycle of recruits were juniors by then so you don't really have a valid point with that post. As far as dlineman changing to oline only 1 guy did it and it was only necessary because Miles wouldn't play Phil Loadholt who left and was a very good NFL player who paved the way for Adrian Petersons big seasons so that's on Miles.

While I agree Grimes is a problem he is number three or four on our list of problems. We have no DL coach. Our receivers coach from practice reports just stands there like a statue not uttering a word. Our shadow staff special teams guy is the only person around the program besides tug boat that has a worse record than O. Then you have a head coach that’s being schooled by a guy that quit on the only job he had to search for a coach. This program is in a world of hurt so let’s anchor this thread so it just goes away like our proud football program.
P.S. I did not mention the 12 three stars we have stolen from Alabama in recruiting.

Well yea but we were talking specifically about the Oline problems. As far as the Dline we have 2 of the best in the country there in O and Pete Jenkins so dunno where you're getting that. When you look at production from a group that had a lot of pro players the 2 seasons before O got here compared to the production since there's just no data to support that take.

Maybe O shouldn't have lost 3 OL. It's concerning. You can spin it the way you want.

That comes from watching Pete on the sidelines looking like he’s lost. He should be on the shadow staff where he can be out of the frenetic pace of the game and pass his knowledge on to the DL coach that should be there. O ain’t coaching nothing in game and the position needs in game coaching.

The production is there so I'm not complaining about the Dline. When you have people like Greg Gilmore and Christian Locature giving you much more than guys like Freak Johnson and Danielle Hunter did that speaks to your coaching ability. Coach O might stink as a head coach but he and Pete are great Dline coaches.

where are you getting this?
no one paid to evaluate oline play thinks we had anything but one of the best olines in cfb.
3rd in the country in yards per attempt.
could they have been better in pass pro? sure but there isnt a cfb oline that is elite at run blocking and pass pro.
quote:
Adjusted line yards - 5th
Standard down ypc - 38th
Passing down ypc - 26th
Opportunity rate - 29th
Power success rate - 89th
Stuff rate - 63rd
Passing stats
Adjusted sack rate - 44th
Standard down sack rate - 59th
Passing down sack rate - 72nd

none of the players you listed were near as prodcutive as Hunter in his last year here.
he absolutely shut down the run to his side. he had 70 + tackles( 3rd most of any dlineman)from the de position.
Hunter last year production
73 tackles
13.5 tfl
1.5 sacks
6 pass def
1 forced fumble
1 fumble recovery
none of the guys you mentioned comes close to that.

you can say what you want about there pass pro but their run blocking was elite.
we had no passing threat and we still finished 3rd in the country yards per carry.
I'm just amazed at how people labeled our 2016 oline as bad when we had 3 different Lineman make an all sec team( the most in the sec) and a rimington award finalist.

Yet the three new freshmen offensive lineman O brought in all zoomed ahead of the backups. Nonetheless, we are very lucky O brought those players in or we would be in even worst shape today than we've been. Of course, you morons would have blamed it all on O anyway.

none of those committed under O.
and that has frickall to do with 2016 oline

we blame him because he is program destroying entity.
you think he was unjustly fired at ole miss after having the worst tenure ever at a program full of shite tenures.
face it. for 90% of O's career, no one wanted him at anything but dline.

One thing you can't reasonably criticize about Oregon is the class he put together last year.

the only gripe is losing all those in state guys.

Or the fact that he had an opportunity to hire his own OL coach but kept the same one? Why doesn't he get blame for that?
I'm not sure the o-line coach is the problem. I know it's the default argument of everyone on the rant that X or Y coach must suck because we're deficient in a certain area but it's really just silly.
Posted on 10/12/17 at 11:59 pm to Rickdaddy4188
I see you conveniently left Anthony Johnson out lol. Both Gilmore and Locature have more sacks already than Hunter did that year and it's only halfway threw. You throw in the total Dline and Olb production compared to the years before and it's not close. You have a guy who's a double digit sack guy in the NFL bit can't get 2 in a season here. If you think Brick Haley is in the same world as Pete Jenkins or Ogeron as a Dline coach you're an idiot. As far as the Oline stats they're on football outsiders.com they do it by adjusted metrics which doesn't give a power 5 team credit for running it up on the sisters of the poor. It's an equal footing statistical ranking and LSUs line ranked 47th last year by all metrics. Of course you are judged in reality by including weak teams you play so I wouldn't say just because that's where they ranked by metrics is their true ranking but it's nowhere near tops in the country like you're claiming.

Yeah, my bad. Miles was losing to Troy 31-10 and was able to come back and win because he had better players than we have now.
You trying to say this roster is less talented than 08? With a rsfrsh QB? And remember we lost a buttload of players in 06-07.
Laughable
Posted on 10/13/17 at 12:20 am to SportTiger1
We lost a lot more talent this year than in 07. 08 returning starters(15), returning starters this year (7) so it's not even close. Plus the best running back in school history by a wide margin and maybe the best safety. You can take the entire group we lost in 07 and they wouldn't equal our first round picks from last year. Dorsey is the only one even close.

The past is a great representation of the coming future. That's why coaches are hired based on previous records(well most coaches). To ignore it is willful ignorance.
If you can only look forward, why was les fired? Why ever fire a coach? Just keep moving forward.
