Let's talk about Ancestry.com and other services peddling this nonsense about people exploring their "ancestry" throug DNA testing.

Meet Lyn:

Lyn decided to get a DNA test to discover where her ancestors came from. Lyn found out some interesting things about her DNA:

Lyn discovered there was so much more to her than she ever realized. So she explored that by wearing traditional african something

What the hell are you doing? This is embarrassing. You're not a Nigerian or Bantu queen. You're just an American black lady.

They showed a Mexican lady doing this with her ancestry and it showed that she had native american DNA and she said she could no longer call herself a hispanic because there was so much more to her. What the hell are you talking about? They also did this with a German guy who said he was no longer going to consider himself German because he had more Czech DNA - ignoring that his grandfather was from Germany. Stop it. Just stop it.

What is with mid-40's people having an identity crisis and trying to re-brand themselves.

You are going to see a whole bunch of people wasting more money again now that many of them are eligible to file bankruptcy again.

Meh, I've wasted $100 on much worse things, but taking it that seriously is a bit ridiculous.

This affects you adversely in some way? Nope? Why do you care then? Stop it. Just stop it. It's their life...not yours.

On a side note, a black male coworker at my wife's employer found out he was 52% white German. He's a very cool guy. Said he now has white privilege but lost all is entitlements.

World is overpopulated.

People don't stand out these days or have an Identity. When she's not In her cubicle, she wants to feel like she is unique and interesting.

Ironic coming from the person who wants to get a tattoo to be re-branded.

Natives of Mexico and Natives of America all would be what is considered Indian, feather.

Seems like this shouldn't be a revelation to her.

I did it bc I was adopted and I was curious about my DNA makeup as well as the medical probabilities chromosome testing provides.

I agree, people are fricking retarded. Had a few people I know do this exact thing. They're Italian but one found out that he is more Greek than Italian. The other one found out she is more Greek than Italian and is pissed beyond belief. Sorry, you're still Italian to me. Once they start growing olives in their house, then I'll feel the need to say something. Until, life goes on and frick your ancestors.

IDK why people do it, but I sure as frick don't care if they do.
If you want to pretend that your DNA makes you a Nigerian Prince then that's cool with me. But, I'm not responding to your email about needing my social security number and banking info so you can transfer a bunch of money.
