at 52 week low after some leadership changes... is this a good buying opportunity ? obviously not a growth stock, but a safe place to park some money for 30 years I'd imagine.

I'm down big league in GE. I just don't see a plan. I don't understand their strategy.
What I DO understand is that defense stocks are going to continue to be hot, as long as Trump is in power, and we have problems with North Korea, ISIS, etc. Every time you hear those names, consider it free advertising for BA, LMT, NOC, etc.

The merger with BH was a bad move imo, quit looking at them after that.

GE bought high and sold low on finance and Energy. Can they correct it, don’t know.

I don't know what the hell GE does besides bringing good things to life.
Sold and have not missed it

How was it bad?
I ask as a legacy BHI employee.

I saw a note saying the ceo was considering slashing the dividend, so if that is true no, I would not buy right now.

Price paid and the future outlook of the industry in general.

You think BHGE will effect GE for the worse in the long run?
I’m hearing 2018 is going to be an optimistic turn for O&G.

It depends, I honestly don't know much about the GE business model, hopefully it's not anything like SLBs or they will squander all the valuable technology and assets BH has brought to them. As far as the state of the industry I hope you are right that it turns around but I'm not nearly as optimistic. It may have a small uptick but nothing long term that I can see. However for both our sakes I hope it does, I am on the verge of leaving the industry and if I do I will most likely not return.

Leave it alone...there are better stocks to put your money in

I want it below 20. I'd buy the shite out of it at below 20

Jim Cramer is MAD (no pun intended) about GE's earnings. He's saying things like he is not going to sugarcoat things, and that "this is a disgrace!" and that if they can't call a spade a spade on tv, then they should be in new professions. Lol. I've never seen him in a bad mood before.

Worked for GE for 11 years in the mid 90's, lucky enough to have caught the tail end of the Welch years. Immelt was a buffoon and had the business intuition of a tree sloth. He drove the business into the ground and created the dog of the Dow. Extremely happy he is gone, can't believe the board let him do that much damage.
I still own a lot of stock but am doubtful it will ever see 30 again.
Stay Away

The BH merger looked a whole lot better on paper.
GE would have been better off without it.
