Why is Corker asking Trump for an endorsement hard to believe?

Do you think Corker really wanted to retire? These guys love getting elected and collecting their swamp money. He knew Trump's endorsement would be his last shot at helping him keep his seat.

God forbid he actually adjusts to the platform of the voting base to get re-elected, so he quits like every other GOPe cuck. They don't know how to win and don't care.

Trump doesnt go after people like this unless they bruise his fragile ego. Trump fired first over Twitter which would lead me to believe the account that Trump asked Corker to run and he declined.......which inevitably led to Trumps tear filled breakdown on Twitter.

He won re-election by 35%. He would win again easily. Trump is lying and only his sheep believe him. He tried to talk Corker out of retiring and offered his endorsement and was turned down.

He won by 35%. You have any proof that the people of Tennessee wouldn't have sent him back with the same landslide in 2018?

Eggggggxcatly.

When do we ever see Trump do this? When someone "crosses" him or turns him down. Period.

Why didn't he run again? I'm sure that landslide 6 years ago could be repeated right? Times haven't changed at all.

I'm pretty sure he put out a statement when he decided not to run. You can read it yourself.

You think Trumpkins in Tennessee would vote for the dem candidate?

Not as much as you think. Your god emperor is and his movement represents a very loud minority of people in the country. And it's shrinking every day.

I actually don't think he wanted to retire. But he knows he has to do his patriotic duty and keep the president (and congress in check). It appears that he is joining McCain in the senate resistance against trump, collins and Lisa M are probably in that camp too.

He can't do that duty to god and country and run a re-election campaign at the same time.

Tennessee currently has the best government of any Southern State. Booming economy and real estate. Low unemployment and free college for two years all highschool graduates.

Trump's endorsement did nothing for Luther Strange in neighboring Alabama. It would do nothing for anyone who runs in Tennessee either.

I don't know what he wanted to do, and I think "asking" for an endorsement if he was considering a plan to run to be completely reasonable.

I don't think it's reasonable that he was so set on running that he was willing to BEG for an endorsement, that's not going to have THAT MUCH of an impact, then turn around and not run.

Like Megyn Kelly huh?

She went after Trump first, just like Corker did, and you see where they both are ending up

And yet he lost his first race to Frist. Won his second race with a slim 51%. And this time he was facing a formidable primary challenger

Not according to David Brooks, NYT columnist:

quote:

Establishment Republicans have tried five ways to defeat or control Donald Trump, and they have all failed. Jeb Bush tried to outlast Trump, and let him destroy himself. That failed. Marco Rubio and others tried to denounce Trump by attacking his character. That failed. Reince Priebus tried to co-opt Trump to make him a more normal Republican. That failed.

Paul Ryan tried to use Trump; Congress would pass Republican legislation and Trump would just sign it. That failed. Mitch McConnell tried to outmaneuver Trump and Trumpism by containing his power and reach. In the Senate race in Alabama last week and everywhere else, that has failed.

Trumpist populist nationalism is still a rising force within the G.O.P., not a falling one. The Bob Corkers of the party are leaving while the Roy Moores are ascending. Trump himself is unhindered while everyone else is frozen and scared.

He's a lefty btw.
