The 49ers Eric Reid makes comments about it. Why don't he become more active in his hometown community?
What makes you believe he isn't?

That argument would carry more weight if Pence spent his own money.

what? by pointing out the obvious here? The obvious being a conservative leader going to a game where he knows players are kneeling prior to the anthem. Then, he leaves and takes it to social media with the curtain call.

And exactly how much in tax incentives do these teams receive? They are now using those incentives to push their politics and I'll guarantee you it costs a lot less than the VP's trip.

I bet you had no trouble with the last president going on a west coast swing for campaining purposes did you? Sure, he had a 15 minute "business" meeting to cover his arse for the trip but then you're politicking the rest of the day and night and into tomorrow?

But this is different from Pence making a side trip?

How much money was "spent" on this?

I mean I'm happy to see all the newfound fiscal conservatives coming out of the woodwork on this matter, but I'm genuinely curious as to how much money Pence "wasted" on this, versus say just going to lunch somewhere before flying back to DC.

Considering it was pre-planned knowing they would kneel, your argument does not hold merit.

We don't know this.

They are paid to play football, not for pre-game shenanigans.

If you want to be mad, put your anger towards our politicians, since they are the ones who are giving the NFL taxpayer money to trot out the players during the national anthem.

It's such a shame what Kaepernick has turned Reid into

You obviously haven't read POTUS tweets on the issue:

I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen.

i was responding to the poster that said it was worth any cost for Pence to show respect. I was merely making the incontrovertible point that his action would have carried more weight had he spent his own money. However, I think the whole stunt was stupid, a continued effort to throw red meet to his sheep.

Do you know that the VP knew they were gong to kneel in advance? Perhaps he thought the owners or coaches had enough respect for him that they would make sure no one kneeled during the Anthem?

It was the 49ers, they have kneeled since Kaepernick was playing for them.

Don't play dumb.

The team organization is getting the incentives and the team organization is allowing this to continue, although I don't see it lasting if it digs deeply enough into their revenues (see: Colin Kaepernick's change of heart).

Agreed on the politician angle.

They receive no federal tax incentives. The VP hadn't been to a Colts game in 3 years (none in his last 2 years as governor of the state) yet chose this game to make an unnecessary political statement.

I want players to stand and for them to end their stunt. And I think it is hypocritical to be in favor of a stunt from the other side, too.

You got the liberal schmegma all bowed up with this!

Look at all their mockery and projecting.

Y’all might as well just get out in the streets and protest and take a knee yourselves.

Nothing can be done to satisfy your angst.

Are you really making the argument that the vice president walked in completely ignorant and then clutched his pearls in genuine shock and disgust?

Seriously?

No offense, but the only people that don't realize that this was a pre-planned political PR stunt are not really that smart. Pence had an fundraiser for Dana Rohrabacher after the stunt that he would have missed if he stayed for the entire game.
