anyone ever seen one of these 'tree lobsters' in the wild?

I think I saw one last night, and it's supposed to be one of the rarest insects in the world. I don't know what else it could have been. It looked just like this.

I don't want to sound like an idiot, and it might be too late for that, but it was crawling up a door frame in my mom's house, and I had to take it outside. I had never seen anything like it. I got it to crawl into a cup and I tossed it outside, and I just saw a NY Times article about it, and I'm feeling like I might have witnessed something special.

Was it a Musk Mare?





These are common and they suck. Got spit in the eye by one when I was a kid and hated them ever since. They smell bad too hence the "Musk" name.
