Let me preface this by saying that I like Etling a lot as a player overall. That guy is out there giving everything he's got to try to win.

However, he also has a lot of moments where he overthrows wide open receivers on passes that even the least athletic of the neckbeards and overweight sweathogs on this site could probably hit. That's obviously hyperbole, but the fact remains that Etling's value is 100% as a player and game manager. He's not a very good QB.

With someone like Mett or even somewhere in between him and Etling in talent, Canada's offense opens wide open. Not only are you facing a passing threat with elite talent at most positions that could light you up vertically and a backfield that is always packed with talent, but you also have to worry about all of those players potentially picking up the ball on sweeps and burning you on the edges.

Canada and Aranda are both excellent choices. We're just lacking the QB talent and discipline at the top to really make either shine.

Relax man, I’m making a joke. But, since you’re going to be a dick, wtf are you talking about with “Cam’s offense?” Cam hasn’t been the OC in a year.

He is a smart guy, fearless, and wants to do well - and has a decent deep ball.

He also hangs on to the ball too long or rushes getting out of the pocket once he's gotten pressure.

We got to see it all today.

Meant Canada's offense hard to tell the difference since the new coach is doing the same goddamn thing that got the last coach fired.

I know that, and that’s why I made the joke. You were just too stupid to realize it.

You can't only have 3 step drop passes. Canada's passing plays don't take any longer than others. Our OL just isn't able to deliver the time consistently.

Etling is gun shy he's used to having no time so if the first guy isn't open he flinches then looks to escape. This and all of our offensive problems come down to Ogeron meddling in Canada's offense. Everything is a trickle down affect just like what we saw under Miles.

Harris never lost to Florida either. I agree that Harris is bad but so is Etling. I can't justify for a QB who got outplayed by Troy's QB.

It's also hard to really sit in the pocket when no one respects your passing game. You either need a solid gunslinger or a really good line to give time to a guy who tends to need receivers in space to make the play. LSU currently has neither so we have a lot of pressure coming on the majority of plays. That's not a great position to put a guy like Etling in at all.

Etling would be a better with better play on the line, and I believe that'd open up the offense a bit. However, he's forced to try to play above what I personally believe his strengths are.

Short passes are there, but if it's not designed to be his first option he never makes it there in his progression.

He doesn't go through his reads very well, imo

Wrong, Look at the numbers Etling outplayed Troys QB.

Etling was 9-12 for 120 yards 1 TD and no INTs after the first drive of the second half that's a very good pace vs a Florida D on the road. His final line was a result of Ogeron neutering Canada's offense.

I think the play calling got neutered because Danny could not hit wide open receivers when he had time to throw.

The 2 near picks at the end of the first half didn't help either.

He's an efficient player and it's keeping LSU in games. That's one of his biggest strengths outside of his effort.

He's just not in a position to succeed based on his strengths and LSU's weaknesses.

Etling is a good guy and future accountant. Break in the freshman!

Those numbers are misleading. He did not play well.

If he had he would have been 13/16 for about 230

Not saying its all them, the playcalling has been atrocious.

Canada was supposed to call plays according to his personnel and he isn't doing it.

Before this game I would agree with you but I feel this game Canada called a decent game. Etling missed open receivers and made bad reads and late reads. He ran the option really well today. They are scared to put the ball in Danny’s hands on third and long. As long as you stay on schedule this can work but not the best way to go about a gameplan.

Etling seems to be a streaky passer. He seems to go stretches with fantastic throws and then goes thru times where he can’t make the same throws. Saw that on a couple of throws. But he has real heart and leadership and showed the team real determination today

Etling isn’t very good, just another QB product of Miles. Jalen Hurts throws a better ball than Etling and is more accurate, and he’s what, a sophomore? Unfortunately though, he’s all we have to hang our hat on when it comes to experience at that position, so either support him or get lost. I’ll support him either way.

Yup. He also almost had 2 INTs, although one the receiver wasn't looking for the ball.
