I hate this Red Sox team... I watch as Tito is the best manager in the game...and ownership ran him out 9f town and then slandered him as they did it.
Torrie Lovoulo is also becoming a great manager with Arizona, and former front office guys all over now as Dombrowski sits and depletes the minors and signs albatross contracts to jerks line David Price.
Farrell is perhaps the worst... This is still the idiot who let Brandon fricking Workman BAT in the World Series. He's an idiot. You have an incredible young core on the cheap only a couple more years and this guy is their leader....my goodness.
There is no juice with this team at all. Fans don't like them and all they know how to do is get swept in the playoffs.

As a Yankee fan I like a competitive and tough Red Sox team.
Farrell should be fired, however he delivered an improbable World Series championship in 2013, or he worked with the team to win the WS.
Yes, he should be fired and the Red Sox should hire Joe Pettini as the manager.

Tito was forced out because of one collapse...2011, when the 2011 Red Sox were heavily favored.

This team was fatally flawed from the beginning. Expecting anything from Hanley Ramirez was a joke. We needed a power bat badly once Papi retired, preferably two because there is no way Mookie would keep up the slugging.
Instead they went and got Moreland and hoped to God Panda could do something. We got lucky with Devers, but we need at least one more power bat.

On the other hand, they gave you a world series in 2013, which was the biggest collection of career years in decades.

Keep melting, bandwagoner.

That was pure luck, without the bombing that team fades

On September 3 — the Red Sox had a 99.6% chance— the Red Sox lost 18 of their final 24 games.
The Red Sox became the first team in the history of Major League Baseball to have a nine-game lead in September and fail to make the playoffs that season.

This iteration of the Sox is indeed very hard to watch. Not built for the postseason. Hopefully Porcello bounces back next season. I thought Price has looked as good as he has looked in quite a long time since his return in Sept, albeit out of the pen. Obviously he needs to have a bounce-back 2018. I've said many a night this season that I was done with them, and turned the TV on again the next night and get pulled right back in. They always seem to get behind right from the start, and that is frustrating. Anyway, ther is always next year, and HOU is indeed very good, so no shame in losing to them, just wish wouldve been a bit more competitive.

I agree we shite the bed on getting a big bag after Papi left. I wanted Encarnacion bad, but the Indians got him.
We have a great group of young guys, but they're just scrappy and not lighting the world on fire with their bats. After seeing the Astros destroy the ball this series I'm hopeful that the front office realizes we need some pop in the lineup.
Maybe they're just waiting out FA for Harper. There's a damn good group of FA's available in the next couple offseasons. We better spend some dough.

I mean, could it be possible that this Astros team is just that good? I know you’re a Sox fan and all, but after 35 years of watching some of my heroes get beat time and time again by the buzzsaw that was Glavine/Smoltz/Maddox or watching Albert Pujols homerun (which I believe someone saw splash down in the flood after spending years in low earth orbit) in the playoffs, it’s nice to believe that finally we’ve built a powerhouse that’s just playing better ball than anyone else.

The Astros were obviously better. It's pretty obvious 2013 was a fluke. The development of Xander Boegarts is still one of the most perplexing things on the planet. He has middle of the order power, but just refuses to use it in the majors. They chose the wrong people to give big money to, but it's pretty amazing the amount of big money FAs that have just failed in Boston lately.
Farrel isn't great, but he's not awful. He will probably be fired to account for the Boston fan's anger

Red Sox appear to have just rolled over it seems.....
Jackie Bradley Jr, Betts, Bogarts, Bertendidi, and Devers are a nice core comparable to the Springer, Correa, Altuve, Bregman

Boston is being anchored down by some awful contracts
David Price 7/$217 m
Rusney Castillo (AAA) got 6/$72m
Sandoval still has 2 yrs remaining on 5/$95m
Hanley has been awful so far into his 4/$88m
