A. Termination by LSU for Cause.
V. Unreasonably refusing OR FAILING to perform ANY duties imposed upon COACH herein (including, but NOT LIMITED TO, those duties and responsibilities set forth in Section 3.) (p.17)
3. Duties and Responsibilities.
A. Administering, managing, and LEADING the Program in a professionally appropriate and competent manner which allows the Team to effectively compete in the football classification generally known as the Power Five. (p.2)
B. . . assistant coaches [shall] assist COACH in [these] responsibilities . . (p.2)
APPLICATION: After the LSU loss to Troy, September 30, 2017, Ed Orgeron announced, publically, he wasn’t even aware that his “third string tailback” was going to get the ball on the first play of the Troy game in Tiger Stadium. He goes on to suggest the reason for the poor performance was because his players were not playing well, and his assistant coaches were not coaching well.
These comments suggest several possible violations of the duties described in section 3(A)—If you are NOT EVEN AWARE of who is playing on the first play of the game—how can you be “leading the Program”at all? It would seem obvious Mr. Orgeron has abrogated that responsibility to someone else, presumably to Mr. Canada. Secondly, and as suggested by Former college player and SEC TV host Matt Stinchcomb after the game, it is NOT “professional” to insult or even blame a college athlete for a mistake on the field. Furthermore, to refer to Nick Brossette as a “third string Tailback,” is a public insult beyond unprofessional. Mr. Brossette was a consensus four star tailback out of Baton Rouge, and was in fact more highly ranked and recruited than every player on the Troy team, who played the game without a single four star recruit on either side of the ball. Conversely, LSU played the game with 50 consensus four star players.
Moreover, the fact that LSU lost to a Sunbelt team, while not fatal in and of itself, seems to suggest LSU is hardly competing “in the football classification known as the Power Five.”
In a separate statement, Monday October 2, 2017, Mr. Orgeron revealed that he had, “for the first time” made adjustments to the LSU offense by telling his offensive coordinator to Not to execute “pre-snap shifts,” but then, at Mr. Canada’s insistence, allowed him to do so in the second half. Again, the admission by Mr. Orgeron would seem to violate his most basic duties to be the head coach of LSU, as clause B explains, his assistants are to “assist” and not to be the head coach of any part of the team.
These statements, along with others of public record, and the overall poor play of the 2017 LSU team, indicates an overall failure by Mr. Orgeron to lead the team “effectively.” It would not be surprising if highly recruited players, perhaps even assistants, would give serious consideration to transferring to a competing program. Such a result could lead to tail-spin which would could impede the LSU program to “effectively compete” for years into the future.
FULL CONTRACT: (starts on p. 125)

I love where your head is at and how you think, but good luck explaining this shite to the LSU BOS and Aleva. We need a fan takeover at the next LSU BOS meeting which is coming up soon.

It's not gonna happen. We'll pay O 5.5 mil next year to leave and hopefully the new AD will make a slam dunk hire.

Come on, man. I'm sure you felt good about yourself with your IRAC legal analysis, but that's ridiculous.

you might be right. But this kinda argument is common, can help with the negotiation, if things don't turn around quickly.

I didn't insult a player on national TV. I guess if you like insults, you love O.

No. You're interpretation of this section of the contract is just moronic.

A few observations:

1) Your application on this could be used for termination EACH and EVERY time a coach loses.

2) He is allowed to run his organization in the mater he sees fit and institute the control structure he sees fit and not what you or anyone outside of the football program sees fit

3) As the head coach and the Ofensive Coordinator's superior, Orgeron is well within his rights and duties to step i and/or request any changes he deems necessary at the time irrespective of the ultimate outcome of any one particular competition

4) Oh you are feeling sorry for Nick Brosette? Brosete has largely been something of a disappointment, and yes, on the depth chart, Brosette is listed as third string behind Guice (who suited for the game) and Darrell Williams. It does not matter if Brosette was a 4* player in high school......Eric Ellington in the early 1980's was the best running back in the nation coming out of Moeller High in Cincy,OH he never made it past third string on the LSU depth charts.

5) Please get up off of the fart stained sofa loaded with Mountain Dew stains and pizza sauce, take shower, get dressed and then get out of your mom's house for a while. She's tired a of feeding a freloader

Should've put a clause in there:

We pay you $1M right now and if you finish at 9-3, then you walk into $3.5M/yr.

As it stands now, he doesn't GAF what us the fans nor Alleva want b/c of his buyout. A guy who was making less than $1M/yr last season could literally walk away with 3.5M + 12M buyout as an unproven coach

Dear God!

I don't think O is the right guy for the head job, but he and LSU entered into an agreed upon contract freely negotiated by both parties. It's not O's fault LSU agreed to a stupid contract. Hell, I applaud him, his lawyers/agents for negotiating such a great contract with no apparent leverage to get anything he may have really wanted.

You want to make sure LSU never gets another worthwhile head coach? Try to screw someone out of money you agreed to pay them. NO ONE but the most desperate of coaches would agree to come to LSU after that

that is actually a good "policy" argument. I can't make a lot of arguments against that: maybe a very confident coach wouldn't be worried ? Yea, thats a little lame. Nice job.

Uh, no. It's not.

Particularly when he IS the third-string tailback.

I mean, not defending O here, but this is just beyond silly.
