In this case, an accident seems unlikely.

But honestly, that's better than not knowing what exactly happened.
I had a friend fall from a balcony a few years back. It happened around 3am so we never knew for certain if he fell or jumped.
Not knowing how it ended eats away at you more than you'd think. Something I think about almost daily.

I was actually there. Worst day of my life bar none.
Seeing the ones you love get put into a body bag is a scene you never forget.

With that being said, condolences to this kid's family. Prayers headed your way.

I don't think he was a member of that deer club. Even if he was, I don't know many hunters that take a bicycle to go to the club. Plus no phone and wallet...

As a parent, I can’t imagine out-living my children. Whatever happened, it doesn’t matter as a mother or father. Your child is gone.

So terrible.

Horrible to hear about this. What an absolute tragedy.

We'll definitely say a prayer for his family. They are going to have a very tough time for a while.

Why doesn't someone bump the actual thread of him missing?

I would assume if anyone knew he had ties to the lease, they would have checked the site before today.

Ahhh, my bad. So how does no one on this board know the guy? Someone should know him that post here but I haven’t seen one person claim to know him. Where’s he from? How Kong’s was he at LSU?

I HEARD from someone that used to date him that he was an introvert and a marine. He majored in engineering but recently switched to sociology so he could graduate in may. He had never been in combat. Was only trained and had planned on climbing the ranks in the military until he got a knee injury. His knee injury dashed his hopes because he didn't pass his most recent PFT. He went to physical therapy every morning near Southern at 5am - left around 430am every morning. She said the military and a promotion he was offered meant everything to him so he was working like crazy to rehabilitate his knee. Failing the PFT was probably what pushed him over the edge.

He was studying for Latin when he just left with his tiger card and bike. Note cards were found strewn about his room as if in frustration?? and an energy drink and a few pieces of green military cord on the floor??

He loved Arizona iced tea and drank them constantly. He was very routine oriented and organized. He did not do drugs and rarely drank. His leaving at 1am was very uncharacteristic of him especially since he left at 430am for PT near southern

Again, this is what I heard.

Whatever the case may be, I'm so sorry for his family.

He had visited them in Mandeville that Sunday and they said nothing seemed unusual except that he brought school work with him.

I'm wondering if what they thought was schoolwork was really him writing his note?? I'm guessing he took his father's gun while visiting :(

Sending up Prayers that God holds Michael's family in the palms of His hands.

I wonder how he knew about that place. Did he just ride his bike until he found an entrance into the woods and found the stand then or did he plan this in advance? Just curious about stuff like this, not that it makes any doefference at all.

I was curious about that as well. Not trying to be insensitive but I had no clue that there were hunting spots that near LSU. I've lived in the area and never knew about them.

A kid killed himself. Prayers to the family but people are right. Suicide is selfish as it leaves the family with no closure other than finding the body. They don't know what caused it, if they could've helped, what else could've been done, etc.

A legal adult walked away from his residence, supposedly left a suicide note, and everyone is up in arms and placing blame on LSU for the football game hindering the search and not being helpful enough.

But I can't help but wonder, and yeah I'm about to go there, this is a 21 year old white male from a good family. Why is there so much attention on this young man who was fighting demons and committed suicide, but not nearly enough coverage on the shooting death at the hands of another of a 17 or 18 year old black young man?

It sucks, but it's true. If we as a community spent nearly as much time trying to help seek closure for those families haunted by homicide as we do on the family of a young man who committed suicide, I can damn near guarantee Baton Rouge would not be breaking homicide records

He was very thoughtful and wanted to do the deed at a place his family would not have any emotional attachment to and no reason to to drive by in the future and be sad.

Very likely he had been there before on a scouting mission during a bike ride.
