Makes me wonder why? What skeletons did he have? What demons? So sad to hear about this and how such a young kid could actually go through with it. He obviously planned it and was well thought out. I wonder if there were any signs that his family and friends should have picked up on.

Wow! So automatically you assume he had skeletons in his closet? You ever heard of mental illness? You have no idea what people are dealing with. He could have been depressed to the point, in his mind he felt like this was his only option. It happens. Probably more than you realize.

I know of several situations in which someone's child killed themselves without any trace that anything was wrong. In one situation, the kid killed himself the day before he graduated HS. He wrote a note to his mom and just told her he couldn't continue to feel the way he did. She had no idea he was dealing with anything.

Thank you for posting. It truly is a silent thing. The past few years have been very rough, and I’ve had moments of suicidal ideation recently. Not actively wanting to die, but not wanting to be alive, either. Very, very isolated. People who interact with me daily would be shocked; I just hide it. I’m not suicidal, but for the first time in my life, I understand what it feels like. It sucks.

Please never let it get to the point where you feel like you have to go that route. Lost a handful of people to suicide. Someone is always willing to help. Just speak up, please.

Man life is hard. Real hard! But you are alive because you had a mom, dad, or both, and grandparents, cousins, and friends who have all helped to raise you because they love you. If you ever need to talk let me know. I'll be glad to show the emotions of someone left behind from suicide and illustrate how much pain is there for the survivors. There's too much to live for.

LSUPD and the boys family knew how this was going to end. What they wouldn't say is the kid left a suicide note and took a gun belonging to his dad. On the Facebook page set up everyone was bashing LSUPD for not doing enough. Everyone was assuming something criminal had happened and no one would share the little details that the kid was likely going to kill himself. With all that said, prayers for the family and friends of this young man.

What an absolute shame. I can't imagine what his parents are going through. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

As someone who has battled depression for nearly 2/3's of my life and has battled suicidal tendencies in the past, Jim's comment on suffering in silence and not giving cues is absolutely true and TDs' experience is exactly what stopped me. The thought of them paying for my silent suffering was worse to me than my Ills. I knew it wasn't me thinking these things but when you have that condition, the thoughts form on their own and for no reason, even when you're living on the top of the world.

I sought help a year and half ago and have been working on the illness since with help of family and friends.

It's an illness and it's not to be scoffed at.

This is exactly why I force myself to recognize the thoughts for what they are and not let my mind wander down that path. I have a lot of people who love me and I can’t destroy their lives. I love them too much.

Just acknowledging it more & opening up helps me get out of that mindset.

I just cant understand the grief those parents feel....all the questions that will go unanswered...hope they make it. Cant help but feel that suicide is the most selfish/cowardly act one can follow through with.

I'm neither...grew up seeing difficult things a child shouldnt see related to mental illness. I was strong, made a successful life and was able to enjoy my parents being proud of me until they passed. What has this kid done for his parents?

Life ìs hard and scary...pulling the trigger is easy...not trying to be crude...but its true.

Maybe a stupid question, but is suicide a certainty? Could it have been an accident of some kind?

Very sad either way. I can’t imagine.
