The timing is right for LSU to hire Tom Jurich next season, and we'd be FOOLS not to.

Everyone knows the legacy and status of LSU's athletic director hinges on the football hire, so if the shrimp boat captain continues this current trajectory we're on, Alleva is going to be fired next season.

Tom goat Jurich is the premier athletic director in collegiate athletics. Jurich was the first phone call Texas and USC made for their athletic director. As far as I can see LSU is the only major AD that could be searching for a new AD in the near future.

Say what you will about him hiring Petrino and keeping Pitino, but just remember where he is. Before Jurich arrived UL was a second rate Kentucky university where guidos came together. Not to mention UL was in the CUSA. Now UL is in the ACC and a top 20 athletic program.

We've saved one athletic director's career following a scandal, so I think LSU should go back to the people heppin' business and give Tom goat Jurich a shot at redemption.

eta: for baseball fans, Jurich turned UL from a zero to a top 10 baseball program with 1/4th of our resources #wood

Jurich would make LSU a power even moreso than it is

Depends on what comes out going forward. Right now he's got plausible deniability, he just got brought down by hiring scumbags.

Yeah he's the hero we need but do not deserve.

Unless of course he's seriously implicated in this FBI investigation.

The guy does not play around. Hires top coaches all over the board.

surely there is no link between the blatant rules violations being uncovered now and the meteoric rise of UL athletics

No chance in hell F King would hire Jurich if there's even a faint aroma of impropriety on his part.

If nothing else, I respect Jurich for essentially admitting what everyone else wants to hide...that the ONLY thing that matters in college sports is winning. Have all the "great guys", "good christian men", "father figures" you want. If they go 4-8 three straight years, or fail to make the NCAAT for 5 years, they are out on their asses.

You think Louisville fans were sad Pitino was kind of a sleazeball while they were celebrating a national championship? Do you think it bothered them that Petrino was a lying horse's arse when they brought him back to UL? NOPE! Because both had a track record of success....The ONLY thing that matters.

Great idea. He can do his AD duties from a cell, not a cell phone.

LSU would win a lot but the athletic department would be filled with scumbags. not saying i would disagree with the hire though.

This is what keeps him from being on my very short list. I think we'd be a fool not to gauge interest, but I like Del Conte and Radakovich before Jurich.

Having said that, I like your way of thinking - we should AGGRESSIVELY, seek out, pursue, bid for and hire THE VERY BEST folks available for any position in our athletic department, period.

Thanks, but no thanks. If hiring piles of crap like Pitino and Petrino are his legacy, I don't want any of that at LSU.

I agree Alleva has to go, but not at that cost.

Only Way to justify firing O that soon after firing a legend 4 games in. Would look bad as far as perception of the programs stability imo. I think it would give good coaches pause before moving their family & staff. But if alleva is fired the fact is with the way the search was handled I don't think it would
Be viewed as the wrong decision. Again I support O. Of course he takes the job and wanted a shot. He got it wrong or not so he deserves a chance to right the ship. Unless the wheels come off and I think they fix a lot of the issues and Canada will find the identity of this offense.

Scott Woodward needs to be our next AD. Worked for Emmert and helped bring Saban, rebuilt Washington and hired Peterson, got hired by A&M and is probably going to the guy that undoes that shitshow too. Plus he’s an LSU grad. No brainer

Maybe LSU could hire him alongside Alleva and move to a two-AD rotational system...
