Fricking Republicans only see "us" and "them" as being D v. R and not politicians vs. people.
The man got us into a surplus. Jindal butfricked us for years. Why does the party matter?

Not surprised this went under the radar this past week bc this board seldomly follows actual politics. John bel Edwards adminstration was actually able to repair the state budget to produce a 100 million dollar surplus WITHOUT cutting tops funding.
Yes raising taxes over 1.2 Billion and spending one time money yielded a 100m dollar surplus.

Something Jindal could not do in 8 years.
Actually Jindal did yield surplus and yes higher than 100m and de didnt raise taxes.
Stelly plan, repeal began under Blanco and despite Jundal's initial opposition the entire plan was repealed because of public opinion.
And I'm glad everything is under control and the budget crisis solved and now no more tax increases!!
Happy days are here again!!!

Yeah, that's how paying off debt works, you make it up alittle at a time. Remember we're dealing with 8 years of Jindal's mess. JBE was only elected January of 2016. A simple thank you to JBE will do
nah. forgive me if i wait a couple more years and see where we are at that point...

Bet your "surplus" would be even bigger if your state had declined Medicaid expansion.
Who gets the blame for that cost-driver to subsidize poor Louisiana flag kneelers?

but we're still facing the "fiscal cliff" next year and JBE's tax hikes have not helped La's economy but hey atleast we can afford to pay the state employees, lawyers, and can afford other wasteful shite (i.e. the charity hospital system).

Wonder if they'll use that surplus to start construction of another MR bridge in BR, or to replace the I-10 bridge in LC...... na they'll probably piss it away on something stupid, then come back next year and complain that we need to raise the gas tax by 20 cents.

Even Jindal finished the year with 100 million budget surpluses and he did it without raising taxes like JBE has done.

Jindal fincially fricked over our state big time and JBE is cleaning up the mess 18 months in!

That $100 million surplus was part of the deal the house republicans made with JBE in return for him wanting to drain the rainy day fund from around $75 million to the $99 million he got.
Nice spin, but he doesn't get to claim victory for the whole $100 million. If you want to spend 90% of all the extra money you have left and I have to turn over couch cushions to replace that money and ask neighbors for spare change, you don't get the win.
If you want credit, he didn't fill $20 million worth of unfilled government positions. Congrats.

JBE had to save us from them
The only thing he saved was government bullshite, bloated state contracts and all of the protected spending mandated by the legislature and the constitution.
This thread is nothing more than celebrating the government having a lot more money money than needed after stealing it from the taxpayers and the private sector while this state has a shitty economy going.

Meanwhile, state employees are only receiving a 2% raise this year. Haven't had a raise in 9 years and they slap me in the face with 2%. It sucks, but I guess I should be thankful for something right?

JBE is the swamp dude. He has family members on FBI's radar for corruption and he made bullshite crooked deal with Edmonson to get the state troopers association endorsement, gives his trial lawyer buddies fat contracts and lawsuits against big oil, wants to keep ObamaCare and steals money relentlessly and recklessly from the hardworking producers of this state.
Can't wait for you to get a big reality check when Conservatives unite to rectify their mistake of petty infighting and misplaced priorities in 2015 and kick your clown out in 2019.

Remind me who has the highest sales tax in the nation since becoming governor?
I'll hang up and listen

I'm actually going to assign the budget surplus to the Republicans who have blocked all of JBE's tax and spend increases thus forcing JBE to cut the fat over the last two years.

I learned in school that the Legislative Branch controls the purse-strings.

LOL. If JBE actually managed to fix our budget and create a surplus, which is probably a bunch of bullshite, that money is going straight to the pockets of his friends.
Posted on 9/27/17 at 1:51 am to Bison
So JBE and his cronies have lined their pockets with the treasure of cash strapped Louisianians. How you see this as a victory is sickening. "Let them eat cake."

"JBE Puts Government Ahead of
Taxpayers" should be the headline.
He has spent record amounts of money and has put through record tax increases.
Who wants a bloated state government with a surplus because some politician raised taxes?
What kind of twisted mind celebrates this?
(Any news yet on the governors involvement in the Tangipahoa vote buying scandal now under investigation by the FBI?)
