Let's say for argument's sake that Jerry Richardson or Ron Rivera put their foot down and told the Panthers they had to stand for the anthem yesterday. Lets say that pissed off some players who were planning to sit it out.
What better way to say "screw you" to the man than by playing like garbage and getting blown out by the Saints?
The Saints sure did a 180 from the way they played the first two weeks.

What if everyone in New Orleans said they weren’t going to eat Jimmy Johns until the Saints won, so Drew played his best game ever to keep his investments profitable?

Well that's just silly. That wasn't Drew's best game ever. Not even close. And Jimmy John's isn't hurting either.

Seems like this little hypothetical question really hurt some feelings.

We also played two really good teams our first two weeks. We moved the ball but struggled in the red zone, we had chances at turnovers but dropped ints and didn't recover fumbles.

Panthers are much worse than Vikings and Pats, and they also lost their best o linemen and two best passing weapons for this game. We scored TD's on our first two red zone trips, we converted our chances to get turnovers.

There a lot more believable reasons for why we looked better

I agree with everything you just posted. This question was pissed to me today and while I wasn't sold on the scenario, I did admit that it was a possibility with the current state of affairs.

Yes. Men that make their wealth based off athletic performances will play badly to....."show em".

Makes perfect sense

Disagree with that reasoning. One poor game will not break them or affect their future salaries.

It's like a firestorm you've lit out there.

Funchess is one of their top receivers and he played all game. Also their defense was fully healthy and one of the tops in the NFL going into week 3. Now I'm not saying the saints have turned the corner because I fully expect them to shite the bed against Miami, but I will give credit to the saints as a team for that win.

Do you have any idea how fast I would ship a players arse off my team if he sabotaged the team just to "stick it to me"?

Okay, so lets look at it another way. What if that 1 thrown "show em" game cost the team a trip to the playoffs?

No....I think it's mostly that your hypothetical is dumb as hell.

You're probably right. The Saint's are probably as good as they looked on Sunday and on their way to another Super Bowl and the Panthers are all good patriotic, stand-up Americans who love their country and president but are bad at football.
