Hill is doing a damn fine job for ESPN. This thread is a prime example. People are taking about her and ESPN. Gone are the days of the old SportsCenter.

This is such a stupid line of thinking. Shitting on her on a message board does no good for her or ESPN. If people aren't watching then ratings and ad revenue go down. People commenting on her Twitter activity has nothing to do with any of that.

Eh

You're certainly correct in a direct sense. But at the same time, generally speaking people aren't going to spend this much time on message boards or Twitter talking about someone if no one is watching the show.

Sure some in this thread don't watch, but some are watching even if it's to find that "gotcha" moment so they can run here and post about it, there's no doubt about that.

The last I saw was after the 1st 2-3 months. While they were down compared to SC the previous year, every show was down, with many being down by an even larger amount, so it seems they were holding their own.

Though I can see as time goes by after the newness wears off, the ratings continuing to slip.
I just think it wsa one of the worst business moves I have ever seen. ESPN was losing viewers, so they changed it up. However, they changed it to gear even more towards the MINORITY audience. Lets be honest, is it the black population that is cord cutting and streaming channels and other devices to get their shows? Is that the audience that ESPN really thought they were losing?

I personally think ESPN made an awful decision based on personal bias. Which is their prerogative, but an awful one from a business perspective.

White privilege is really a misnomer. It's really just "majority" privilege. Exists in every society that's not ethnically homogenous. Difference is, the USA has taken extensive pains the past 60-80 years to level the playing field, as it were, even swinging the pendulum a little too far in the opposite direction (see: affirmative action). The 180 on race relations in this country is nigh unprecedented in modern history. And it's awesome.

Exactly. The problem is that the ones that are "woke" about stuff like this won't shut the hell up. I had a lengthy conversation with a group of guys last week, and there were three of us that were sane, and giving the fourth valid arguments about why his viewpoint was flawed and basically stupid. To hear some of what he said, you would think we were living in 1861 or at the dawn of the civil rights movement. Yeah there are stupid people on both sides, and I readily admit that. But he was trying to make it seem like cops are riding around targeting in every single city, all day, every day.

ESPN Jemelle Hill was not using your microphone so leave her alone. It is true that the truth 'hurts'.

Because most people who dislike ESPN's political activism NEVER watched SC6 from the beginning because we knew that Michael and Jemele were SJW's and SC6 was going to be full of political BS

Can't lose viewers that show never had

Like they left Curt Schilling alone when he used the same exact "microphone"?

I've never once watched an episode of SC6. I have no idea how people can put up with that. From what I understand: 90% of it has little to do with actual sports. (had to edit due to Strong's & SMS's inability to read between the lines and ignorance in general)

i was working in my backyard with a Sonos speaker playing ESPN Radio one Saturday and SC6 replay started being played. Jemelle and Micheal Smith spent the first 6 minutes of the opening segment arguing who had a better chicken sandwich, Wendy's or Chick-fila. I'm dead fricking serious.

So how do you know this? It seems like when its on where I workout at they are showing highlights or discussing related to sports. I do not know what they are saying though, as I am not listening as I have my headphones on.

You don't get why I was laughing?

How do you know what percentage is about sports if you've never watched an episode?

I watched one episdoe. They showed some highlights, but most of it was them talking about sports or interviews.

The one i watched someone had just signed a big contract. And they spent about 5 minutes talking about how "much bread that was" and why you shouldnt get jealous counting "someone elses green"

It was cringeworthy as a honky to watch
