60. Jrue Holiday, Pelicans
It’s hard to fully grasp how imposing Holiday is until you watch him hound some poor, undersize point guard punching the clock in a random regular season game. Denial is a Holiday specialty. Nothing seems amiss until it comes time to get the ball to Holiday’s man, and the way is shut by an aggressive, 6'4" defender with a 6'7" wingspan. Sneak a pass through and any shot still has to arc over Holiday’s reach. Any drive has to create enough room so that Holiday—supposing an opponent can get by him in the first place—can’t disrupt a play from the side or from behind. When the applications for Holiday (15.4 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 7.3 APG) start there, his scoring and playmaking are almost gravy. The latter may be understated even by a solid assist average (7.3 per game). Through his passing, Holiday managed to pull nearly three three-pointers a game from a cast of misfiring teammates. Isaiah Thomas, who ran one of the most prolific three-point-shooting offenses in the league, averaged slightly fewer. That said, it’s a bit odd that Holiday had as much trouble as he did playing alongside Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins last season. The versatility of Holiday’s game and positioning should make him useful in all sorts of situations. Those short-term snags were somewhat understandable given the magnitude of the mid-season changes involved, though this will be a season to watch as Holiday wages a season of his playing prime with a team that very much needs his guidance. — RM

Boogie comes in at #23

Those expecting Cousins (27 PPG, 11 RPG, 4.6 APG) to finally turn over a new leaf once he was set free from the Kings’ dysfunction are still holding their collective breath seven months later. The mercurial center had an unforgettable season given his awkward and unprecedented All-Star Weekend trade, but his arrival in New Orleans has yet to deliver a reputation revision. Instead, Cousins spent the stretch run to another lottery trip slowly gelling with Anthony Davis, serving a technical foul-related suspension, and posing plenty of lineup and stylistic questions for his new coaching staff. Firmly entrenched as the most prolific stat-stuffing center since Shaquille O’Neal, Cousins’s impact continues to be undermined by his emotional outbursts, turnover problems, foul trouble and inattentive stretches on defense.
Cousins’s scoring explosions and highlight plays go viral with ease, and his deep portfolio of skills—ball-handling, post moves, three-point range, and much more—is unmatched at his position. But the three-time All-Star is entering his eighth season having made little substantive progress on two key questions: “Does he make his teammates better?” and “Is he really trustworthy?” In fact, last season might have represented a step back on those fronts given the modest package the Pelicans had to surrender to acquire him and his so-so performance after the trade. Summer reports that Cousins has committed to improving his conditioning are promising, and his pairing with Davis will no doubt look better in November than it did in March. However, there’s no guarantee that Cousins, who is an unrestricted free agent next summer, lasts in New Orleans through the trade deadline, especially if the fit questions persist. — BG

"So-so performance after the trade?" Huh? He averaged 24.4 ppg and 12.4 rpg shooting over 37% from 3. He also had 12 double doubles. He had 1 technical in New Orleans, the other 17 were in Sacramento, but they talk about his suspension in New Orleans.

Yeah, that's weird. And 23 is too low for him.
Oh well. We will see.

The whole list sucks.
Also Gobert is not better than Cousins. That is just ridiculous. I still think Cousins is obviously better than KAT.
Also Draymond being top 10 is laughable. He is a good player, but that is just so stupid. If you are a top 10 player you have to be dominant on the court.
I think Klay Thompson is way too low also.

Lmao at Boogie being 23
27/11/4 with a high PER. He's undoubtedly top 15. Not even a debate

He watched the first few games after the trade, just like most national pundits who have been haters. It's absolutely ridiculous.

Some dumbass downvoting in here because they can't make an argument

A fringe top 5 player, the 23rd best player(which is way too low anyway), and a top 60 guy.
No reason this team should not make a strong push for 50 wins.

It is Golliver.
He hates Pelicans. Rondo is his most hated player.
Just made a pod with 15 minutes segment about trading AD. On today's pod he is debating about DMC. TERRIBLE

Draymond dominates on the defensive side of the court.
watch this breakdown
you want to argue that offense is more valuable as a general rule and that a top 10 guy needs to score more points, great; say that. but dont be a fool

A player who plays mostly forward and averages 10 pts a game is not a top 10 player, regardless of his defensive acumen.

I expect more all-around game from a top 10 guy personally. He gets to sit back and focus only on the defensive end of the court. He plays with three of the top offensive players in the league. Additionally Curry, Thompson, and Durant are all considered good defenders along with Igudoula.
I will have this opinion about Draymond until I see him carry a team.
Additionally big players like like Lebron and Kawhi will get guarded by him while also guarding the opponents best offensive player. So as I said he is a good player, but hasn't proved top or even All-NBA due to not having to be a teo way player.
I would easily take Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Gordon Hayward, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Davis, and Demarcus Cousins playing as a SF or PF just off the top of my head.

great!
I think that is somewhat foolish but that at least has some logic to it.
how about this for all the moaning going on here: a guy who scores 25+ ppg but hasn't won more than 33 games once in 7 years isn't a top 20 player in the league

i know. It's an insane opinion to me. But different strokes for different folks.
One question though- what team has Cousins carried that made his ranking so outrageous to you?

My point is Draymond is a role player yet someone is going to claim he is a top 10 player.
Demarcus Cousins is a superstar; however, you can't do it alone in the NBA unless you are Lebron.

It's not a 1 man team, and it's hard to have that great of an impact if you aren't a primary ball handler.

The talk about Cousins ranking and how he hasn't lead a winning team makes me think back to Paul Pierce in Boston. No one would have ranked him a top 15 player when they were a mediocre at best team for several years. When they surrounded him with Allen and Garnett and they actually won, he vaulted up to top 15 status and became recognized as a clutch big time player. Not saying Cousins is going to be the equivalent or that this is remotely the same situation as that Celtics team, but let's at least give the guy an offseason to work out and meld with the roster. If we end this year with 35 wins, then yea, we have our answer. If we hit 42+ wins and get a playoff spot, I'd consider that a notable improvement
