Kids get tired and they continue to drag them along as they cry because the $45 an night motel in BFE takes too long to go to for a midday break.
Amateurs.
all this.
if you don't properly research & plan your WDW trip months ahead of time you're guaranteed to have a terrible time.
also, anyone who has stayed on a disney property knows its worth just about ANY price to get the extra hours at the park and hassle-free transporation HANDS DOWN.
you're stupid if you try to book a motel6 to save a few bucks and your kid will probably hate you for life, but, you know..you saved money right?

Some people like Disney, some people don't. The only problem is when one of those people think their way is the only way.
But if you go to say San Francisco and dont do research and just hang out at the wharf the whole time, it'll be lame as shite.

europe = fun for active couples with no kids
WDW = fun for exhausted parents with 4 kids
In other words, don't have kids if you want to have real fun. Got it

exactly. dont trash WDW because you had a shitty time because you didnt set the trip up for success.
same i imagine goes for any vacation.

if what brings you pleasure in life is derived solely by what you enjoy by yourself, then sure.

Having to put in effort to have a good time on vacation sounds like a shite vacation. Last I checked it was about relaxing and having a good time. If I'm on an itenarary and I'm going to have a bad time if I don't stick to that then it sounds like a bad vacation.
To each his only but that sounds more like work than vacation to me.

Maybe for you, but some people like adventure instead of just relaxation. Again, people can do whatever the frick they want. What i want to do on my vacation had nothing to do with what you want and vice versa. I don't know why that's so hard to understand for some people.

Like I said, if you go with your family, that's one thing. If your kids want to go you go do what is fun for them. A grown arse man that loves a theme park and goes at least annually with no kids though is weird dude. It's a bunch of people dressed up like stuffed animals and long lines to ride rides modeled after cartoons. If that's your thing then whatever, but adults that cream themselves to the thought of riding pirates of the Caribbean are odd.

Adventure could mean hiking in Costa Rica, skiing, etc. I was not saying going to ride a roller coaster is an adventure.
The post I was replying to was about planning a vacation and doing research on what you want to do while on it

Hows the damage in 30-A?

least at wdw you get to go on the pirates of the caribbean ride after you get to the end of the line.
But they took the hooker out of that ride.

I lived in Orlando for 15 years.
My FB timeline is fantastic. Basically everyone in Orlando made it through the night easily, some lost power/some didn't. No real damage, just about how I expected with not a whole lot going on.
But there's this one girl who keeps making status updates every hour freaking out completely about everything, with my favorite one so far being, "Reports of alligators and fish in the streets. WHAT!!!"

My wife and I went to SF with zero plan and just asked people we met in bars and restaurants what to do next. We had a badass time all over the city. We ended up doing everything people "do" there when they anally plan it out for months, but it was much more fun because we were just winging it.
We did the same thing driving from SF to Portland another time - didn't even get hotel reservations. Just stopped in towns that seemed cool, did whatever activities each town we stopped in was famous for (rafting, wineries, redwoods, hiking), asked people/Googled where to stay and what to do, and had a blast.
Personally, if you're not a pussy, I think it's better that way. Feels like more of an adventure.

FYI Pirates of Caribbean is boat ride essentially and anything but a roller coaster.

Disney will still rape you

The same applies to disney but on a different scale. You don't have to book dining and can still find good places. But booking means you're getting the "better" stuff usually. Same with the rides. You don't have to plan/book, but it helps. It's all about the expectations. You had none in SF and it turned out great. People think Disney is a certain, specific experience. It's simply not.
