Donte is pretty damn good most of the time, but is prone to have a breakdown every now and then and finds himself out of position.

Not a bad thread to be honest . Would like to see greedy and toliver on the outside and possibly move him around in nickel and dime packages. Could you imagine Dante coming off the edge on a CB blitz . Would almost be cheat code like for a sack .

Then again let's realize that was greedys collegiate debut against a inferior talented team . Not knocking the kid , I have been saying for 2 years this guy would be a stud . I played defensive back my entire high school career and it's easy for me to pick out guys with that elite hip fluidity .

Honestly I don't think Donte has what it takes to be a successful NFL corner , he has the physical tools but is lacking the intangibles and killer instinct. Not knocking the kid one bit , he's a hell of a player . I hope the best for him . I will gladly eat crow if he has a 5+ int season .

The funniest part about this discussion is the Greedy hype is from this season and the Donte slander is from last season..

Just to point out, they threw against Donte once and it went for a short gain.

Greedy looked good in game 1. Great to see. Hopefully he keeps developing and gets better. It's not out of the question that you see young guys come in and start playing their way into more pt.

I will say that halfway through the game I had to look to see if donte was one of the suspended players since I didn't really see any passes to his way (the hair gave him away once I looked for him). In a game where all byu really did was try to pass he never got burned, though I can't say for sure how many if any passes were allowed to his man.

As I've said before and many will disagree, it seems Donte takes poor angles to avoid contact. He doesn't have the same mentality as the DBs we've seen at LSU in the past. There's a reason we haven't seen his world-class speed in many blitz-packages.

The way I look at it...we now have depth at that spot for whenever Donte needs a break....

remember Donte's awesome pick against Ole Miss last year at the goal line....it was very similar to Greedy's pick....

This is why the rant is hard to read, Donte is the best corner on the team.

He gave up a couple of catches and missed a couple of tackles vs non athletic byu receivers.

I have no faith in him one on one with Calvin Ridley

Yes, I'm waiting for the day where he doesnt give up a catch and doesnt have to make any tackles because his man didn't catch the ball.

AND, it's so stupid that he was giving up catches, the other teams don't even practice like we do. lastly, I can't believe Donte almost let them cross the 50. Unbelievable, he needs to get his head in the game!

I hope someone beats donte out because donte simply put is just average.

Geeze, this place is filled with ignorant arse comments. B.Y.U had a total of 100 yards passing. L.S.U. was top 8 in pass defense last year. Donte allowed 3 t.d.'s or less despite being the most targeted guy opposite of white. White allowed two t.d's in one game (I think was Arkansas) And Donte is average?

Donte would start for every team in the s.e.c. including Bama. That's not average. Fitzpatrick is considered the best db in the s.e.c., he already gave up a t.d. to f.s.u..

I remember people stating TM7 was to small/average after Alabama targeted him in the n.c. game. Just because they complete a ball or two on you does not make you average. TM7 never gave up a t.d. that year and is the highest paid safety in the n.f.l. today. That's not average.

You don't get to play and start at LSU being AVERAGE. Since you believe he is AVERAGE, There are 14 teams in the s.e.c. alone. That is 28 db's that start. Please list 14 db's better than Donte.

Pretty poor question whether its the rant or not. Certainly you can give credit to Williams without taking a shot at one of the other players.
So what is it? Arranda and O dont know what theyre doing or is Jackson just better?

Or maybe you think Williams will continue to develop this season and get a starting spot? Dont know why you think this based on the one game against that passing attack. Could the wide receiver for BYU played that interception any worse?
Anyone can say the 2nd teamer might compete for the starting job on almost any position on the team.... Whats the point in this? To question the coaches? After a shutout?

I like Greedy and obviously he is a potential NFL player in his own right.
But these discussions about dissing another amateur athlete are useless.

You should get many downvotes.

I would def use him as the Jet sweep guy on Offense. could you imagine if we still had Shep?

The problem with Donte is that he gets abused by receivers that are comparable in size to himself. He has no chance with big, physical receivers...luckily we have Toliver to handle those. Donte also relies too much on his athletic ability alone, and in the SEC that won't cut it. I can't even recall ONCE where he actually turned around and tracked the ball. It was surely nice to see Greedy do this and come up with the INT! Donte also has very poor tackling technique, this is a FACT...not an opinion. He NEVER wraps up and is always looking for some type of slick hit that usually ends up failing with him flying by out of bounds and the receiver getting tackled by one of our safeties instead.

Lol. Again, we are in trouble if don't is our best cb. He has had his moments, but in fairness, he is a crap shoot out there just bad technique and tackling at times. I wish him all the best, but have concerns.

I'm getting really "creative" here, but Shep could've run the jet sweep and had a fast tailback follow him for an option aspect! (I know it's a speed sweep and it wouldn't work, but the idea is cool).

You are in a thread with diehard no accountability posters. Always someone else to blame. Just like bh...was not developed right poor coaching...he will excel under a real qb coach.....wait...ha
