I'm sure yall will down vote me to all hell, but I'm no huge fan of Donte Jackson. Elite speed, I know, but I feel like he never turns around to see the ball and is the only guy on the team that doesn't wrap up at all! He's too busy trying to be "the next Honey Badger" to make a tackle. His WR ends up going another 5-10 post catch until a safety catches up to him.
I know Greedy backs up Tolliver on the right side of the field, but any chance we'll see him get reps on the left side over Jackson?

All I know is Greedy looked damned good Saturday.

Could use Donte as a nickel/dime DB and then use him as a jet sweep guy on offense.

Spoiled... you guys are blinded because you're spoiled. The dude is really, really good at CB. Maybe he's not a first rounder but damn.... maybe I'm missing it! I'm not sure how he graded out last year or in the first game this year, please tell me. I can only assume y'all know.

Idk how well Greedy or anybody else covering Ridley will look, but I have a bad image of what it's gonna look like when Donte tries to!

I watched every snap he played last year. He draws pass interference calls because he never turns around and he is either too small to tackle or too busy trying to strip the ball.

I think you guys are selling Donte short. Greedy looked good in one game. He may be a player, but hold your over reactions. Think Harris after the State game three years ago, hasn't looked that good since in two uniforms. Not comparing Greedy to Harris but we just don't know with limited looks!

He gave up one catch for a first down and had one terrible play against Florida last year and these idiots will never let him live it down.

Donte deserves his starting spot on the field. Toliver has 1st round athleticism if he can put it together this year.

This. Donte improved big time time last year from his freshman season. Yet one bad play and people wanted him benched.

1. He'd have to improve dramatically this year then continue it next year to be drafted April '19, period, much less a top 3 round?!?! Jalen Mills didn't even go until the 7th round and he was an All-American.
2. Yeah, he had a guy catch a ball over him then he didn't even attempt to tackle the guy, rather he failed to strip the ball from him. It's all he did last year too.

Obviously yall didn't read the title of the post, I said can he COMPETE for the position, that's all. If his arse would just wrap up like everybody else on the field I wouldn't even mention it!

How many plays did that happen on? The guy has already been competing for the spot the last 3 years and has beat out numerous highly ranked kids going for his spot. It's not just because he's fast.

How many times did BYU target his receiver when he was in one on one coverage? Donte has played his heart out for the purple and gold. He had offers from USC, Oklahoma, Georgia, Notre Dame and many other schools. However, he CHOSE LSU and has contributed to many wins. Do as you please because it's a free country, but I will never trash a kid who has represented LSU well and gave it his all busting his arse in 90 degree fricking heat and training year round while most of us experts are sitting in our homes and or offices with air conditioning turned on. Why don't you suit up and play his position since you can do so much better and he is so meh? If the coaches see a better player in practice they will play him because they want to keep those big salaries. The backups are always better! What a fan base.

Might go top 3 rounds if he stays 4 years but not if he leaves this year.

I like donte but he might be one of the worst tackling cbs I've seen here

No he isn't. He has all the tools, but he has not been good. He has never been very physical either. I was shocked when they named him punt returner because of his lack of physicality. Turns out O isn't sold either.
