Anybody think that anything happens this week? We lost 3 players the past few weeks in Hill, QP, Jackson and we haven't done anything to address those roster spots. We traded QP to make room for Cunningham so just wondering why we are not doing anything.

The most likely thing is signing Dante and a minimum wing.

1) Sign Dante
2) ???
3) Benson Profits

I'm hoping for a trade to bring in a legit starter but just don't see us having any assets teams may want. Would love a Will Barton or a Demarre Carroll then sign Josh smith or Tony Allen to a 1 year deal.

Losing Hill is a bummer. We will resign Dante, or if he goes to Minny, probably sign Shabazz.
QP isn't a loss. betting on him to play, much less contribute wouldn't be smart.
Jackson isn't a loss. He was always going to play in the G-League most of the season, like Diallo did last year.

We also have Charles Cooke on a 2 way deal. I don't think he'll play much this year either, but if trades or injury thin out the guard ranks later in the season, he looked like he had the physical tools to be a passable 3 and D guard.

With the Rockets being sold for $2.2B, look for a sale sign.

It's always strange when it takes so long to do the inevitable.

That's where I'm confused. If you are trading Pondexter AND giving up a 2nd then it must be for a reason right? And if so what's the wait?

MM said they made the move to trade Pondexter without having verbal commitments in place. He considered that odd since the Chicago trade would still be there a week later if that's how long it took to get commitments from Dante and the minimum wing FA.

Benson doesn't need the cash and why sell the franchise as franchises get more and more valuable every year unless you foresee a downturn in the future?

Well I would assume they know QPon isn't going to contribute and that the Bulls deal was about the best they were going to get. They have been sitting on hisbcontract for a long time I assume they have a good understanding on what was needed to move it.
Maybe they wanted it out the way so they could make a move immediately once it was decided on instead of being contingent on the other deal processing.

What's the deal with Asik's contract? Are we extending or eating?
Posted on 9/5/17 at 11:28 am to Suntiger
Asik's contract is staying where it is until the 2018 summer at least. Barring a miracle by Dell

2 franchise caliber stars and a B-star player.
it won't get any more valuable than this. I'm sure Alexander felt that way when he got CP3 and said welp, 2 franchise caliber stars.

I mean he bought the team for relatively nothing. He has money and there is no reason to sell if the family enjoys the team. I mean if he had a stupid amount of investment in the team tied up I could see selling, but he does not. The guy bought them for about $300 million. He will never lose on that deal.

the pels may be worth more today than the saints are...

How long have people been saying this? Very limited supply of NBA/NFL franchises, much bigger supply of billionaires who want a team.
Relatively speaking he has very little invested in the team, they are still making money on the pels, and from everything I gather they enjoy being one of the few dual franchise owners. Lauscha and Gayle really pushed purchasing the Pelicans. I don't think they have an interest in selling. Benson had many opportunities to cash out on the Saints and never did, now what are they worth?
