Cleveland police officers had been preparing to hold a large American flag on the field while the national anthem was played before the Browns’ first regular-season game. Now they won’t, because some Browns kneeled during the anthem before preseason games.
Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association President Steve Loomis told cleveland.com that officers decided not to support the Browns because of both the players’ actions and the team’s response.
“When management allows you to do those things, then that’s on them,” Loomis said. “It’s hypocritical of the Browns management and ownership to want to have an armed forces first-responder day, and have us involved in it when they allow their players to take a knee during the national anthem. That’s the very representation of what we stand for. That’s why we aren’t going to.”
The Browns issued a statement saying they support both the anthem and the right of individuals to choose not to stand for the anthem.

The players can make their statement and so can the cops.

I don't mind these idiots kneeling or whatever, but when your primary job is to win football games and you're so bad doing that, you should prbabaly forgo this "protesting" and concentrate on doing your job

Good on them. They should stop offering stadium security as well.

What a triggered little bitch. Ever wonder why police are scared bitches who shoot unarmed citizens? See above as reason why.

It is ultimately responsible. Protest all you want, but do it on your time. Not while you are at work. Jerry Jones is the only owner to my knowledge to make any sort of statement about his players standing for the anthem.
I would love to be a fly on the wall for some of the new paragraphs that agents and teams are trying to negotiate into contracts with this crap happening.

Good. Cops hate the Constitution

If those idiots kneeling and sitting don't want to support America, we should stop giving the NFL tax breaks. The NFL allows them to not support America, but still heavily profit off of Americans. Easy fix is to stop giving the NFL tax breaks

I support the police in this.
And did the Browns sign Kaperneck?

The OT constitution must start with the 2nd amendment. Talk about guns and it's your right to have whatever you want, mention free speech and all of a sudden the NFL should take away their players rights. It's mind blowing how short sighted some of you are.

I refuse to watch the Browns play. Of course, my job is much easier as I couldn't care less what happens to the Browns, or Cleveland in general. Still, I'll do my part.

This all day, every day. The Browns' response was spot on.

So the police department is using the national anthem to protest the players using the national anthem to protest?
