Statement From LSU Athletics Regarding Hurricane Harvey:

quote:

First and foremost, our thoughts and best wishes are with our neighbors in South Texas and of course with our friends and family here in South Louisiana as Hurricane Harvey draws near. We know all too well the challenges of facing a storm of this magnitude and stand ready to assist in any way we can.

The season-opening football game against BYU in Houston September 2nd remains as scheduled. We are actively monitoring the situation in South Texas and will be in regular contact with Houston officials and NRG Stadium representatives to fully assess conditions on the ground while keeping a close eye on developments here in Louisiana as the storm unfolds.

They were too late issuing that. Cptbengal and pirateking already in full blown melt because they KNEW Lsu was doing nothing.

I do blame Lsu for not letting them know sooner.

there... now all you cry baby snowflakes got your statement that you wanted

Happy? Or have the goalposts been moved? Did you want them to accurately predict the storm and its aftermath on the spot?

It won't happen but imagine another game being cancelled for the 3rd straight season.

The game will be moved to BYU if they cannot play it in Houston.

Good if they are in contact with local officials they will likely have a plan in place as well. LSU doesn't want to miss out on all that money.

This is getting old. Not their fault but still getting old.

From a story on ESPN.com:

quote:

Harvey is then expected to stall and let loose with lots of rain -- upwards of 35 inches in some areas -- and then likely to go back into the Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm, gain strength and hit Houston next week.

One less injury-gauntlet for our O-line. Let's move on to the UtC game and hope our line gets out of that one unscathed.

Found this quote in The Advocate article. Nothing else in the story is newsworthy.

Seems like ESPN is in charge...

quote:

ESPN should use “reasonable efforts” to reschedule the game if it is canceled due to extreme weathers, according to the game contract between LSU and ESPN. LSU is due $4 million by ESPN within 30 days of the game date. The network and school are not liable, for any reason, if the game is canceled because of weather, the contract reads.

3 PM Friday Stormtracker update:

"Houston/Galveston to Beaumont/Port Arthur: Off and on heavy squalls moving inland today through Monday, producing several inches of rainfall per day. Some squalls may contain small, short-lived tornadoes. Heaviest rain will come on Tuesday through Thursday of next week as Harvey passes to the west. Torrential rain and extensive flooding is possible."

Take it for what it's worth -- but if the "heaviest rains" actually do hit Houston on Thursday and there is widespread flooding... having a game on Saturday night would be difficult, in my opinion.

Bottom line -- they won't move the game a week out, not KNOWING and by the time they KNOW - there will be no opportunity to move the game.

Just my opinion.

The updated models have it staying more to the west, which would be good news for Houston
