I really think this censorship is rooted in Puritan culture. I think it explains the modern left in general. They are secular Puritans.

There is a TON of material about this online. Very interesting stuff. They're morphing into this strict pious lifestyle where "progressivism" is their god. Many of their biggest activists are almost monk-like in their pursuit.

It's a testament to the enduring power of culture. How peoples don't really change.
I think it's also one of the most unfortunate legacies of the civil war. Puritan New England became the cultural wellspring of the country, thanks to the victory, their wealth, their media, and their universities.

Are they going to pretend that their Puritan ancestors didn't fight a savage war of annihilation against the Indians?

It's about time. As a decedent of the early European settlers of this great country, I'm offended by such depictions that lead the viewer to think that the "natives" were innocent victims of the white man. There's a reason why they were called "savages".

Seems like if they were "honoring it", they wouldn't have such a defeated/scared facial expression on the indian while the Puritan is scowling. Perhaps the message is showing the "evils" our first settlers were involved with.

where is the cuckeye jackass that said the statues garbage wouldn't try to revise history?
will some imbecile sleep better tonight because a useless piece of cement is destroyed? Indoctrinated fools.

quote:A lot of the Indian tribes were nomadic and migrated from settlement to settlement. Also, they didn't have much of a concept of land ownership as they thought the earth did not belong to the people.
Yeah, people are just keen on letting take their land. If I came to your house uninvited and set up shop how would that go?
On top of that, many viewed the mere presence of the white people as a threat, even the ones who were settled peacefully. There were many raids on white settlements by the Indians where many people were massacred. Perhaps we need more of those types of monuments to remember our ancestors who lost their lives to red aggression.

It wasn't their land.

Seems historically accurate to me.

That^. The popular concept of the "Nobel Savage" is a bunch of Rousseauian bullshite.

Looks to me like the settler feared for his life. Clear case of self defense.

Well, when you're fighting against savages it's gonna be a savage war.

Ok, so you didn't even read my response. Gotcha.

I just examined the pic again. The Indian and the settler look eerily similar in their facial structure. Maybe that's the only face the stone cutter could do.
