quote:Thanks for starting this thread. We were thinking about one also. Our daughter has had one for about 2 yrs and is very satisfied with its performance. We saw it in action in July; looked like the real deal to us. We have a dog and cat who shed a lot.
Anyone here have a Roomba?
I'm looking into getting one for the house as I have a dog that sheds heavily. Curious to hear any positive or negative experiences people here have had.
So after reading comments here, along with other research, we did it. Amazon will deliver our on Tuesday.
Thanks all!

Have a Neato Botvac D80 for a couple years. Also have pets that shed. Runs everyday, works great. Have had to replace battery a few times, and now replacing laser.

We got the 800 one, best investment ever

Have a Neato. Best damn 600 bucks ive spent on house shite. Neato uses laser to guide, roomba is either random or a camera which doesnt work in the dark. Neato is supposed to be better for pet hair. Both brands are good.
Just get it man.
Just get it man.

I love Roombas and Neatos. That said, this is a Roomba thread, so I want to post this. Since this is also a Roomba WITH a pet thread, I think I'm required by the bylaws of the OT to post this.

We got a Roomba about 13 years ago. we replaced batteries 2xs and several other parts over the years. It died in the flood.
We just moved back into the house and I really miss that little robot. We are looking to replace soon considering the Roomba 960 but kinda freaked out about the camera. I am still researching.

Yes. My wife got one a month ago. Other than the noise it's a great little Unit.

Just moved in to a brand new house with all ceramic driftwood floors. Grandparents wanted to buy our washer and dryer, but we had already purchased, so they sent a gift card. Just bought a Neato D80 (they were out of Roomba 650's). Looking forward to not sweeping up tumbleweeds and dust bunnies!

Yep, it's a good purchase. Go for it, OP.

I have a Neato that I paid less than $300 for. I love it but it doesn't get right up close to the baseboards. The next time I buy one I will get one that has the little brush that gets the dirt next to the baseboards.
My kids have the Roomba but I like the pattern mine vacuums in. Also mine goes slower so I think it picks up better.

Thanks OT for all the feedback. Funny that another user mentioned his two corgis - I have a six month old corgi that is starting to shed everywhere and is really driving me to the robot vacuum.
After reading reviews and posts, I think I'll be ordering one shortly.

The newer Neatos have a brush thats replaceable for sure, you must have an older model. The newer ones start on the outside walls using the brush and then work their way in.

If you have a dog that sheds it's a must

We got a Neato since it can get in corners and had better reviews on pet hair. Love it. Paid $299 I think a few years ago and as long as you clean the rollers it works great.

They work ok. They can be rough on furniture and base boards or get stuck under cabinet toe kicks. Don’t leave wires or anything on the ground that can get sucked up. Mine completely fricked up my MacBook Pro charging cable
Couldn't have said it better. Ours gets stuck under toe kicks pretty often. Does a decent job of picking up loose stuff on the floors.

Just bought the top of the line almost $1000
used it three times
so far, so good

It's great if you own a pet that sheds. I got a cheap off brand version called a deebot for 140 from amazon. It's great on solid flooring.

Do they work on regular wood floors too? (not sure if yours are wood or not, that ceramic word threw me off)
Are they smart enough not to go down a set of stairs?
Great thread, I always assumed these were just a gimmick, but sounds like they treat the OT well.

Get one that's quiet. My buddy and his wife got a knock off. So loud. I take the batteries out and hide them just so she has shite to pick up. Lazy summbitch
