I happened to be watching rescues on CNN yesterday and Anderson Cooper stated "we are not taking any spots from rescued people". Um, yes you are. It is however, pretty cool to witness the life saving heroics from the air.

Re: the alligator - my son just sent a different view of the same gator - this happened in a subdivision a little to his north on Lake Houston.

Spent the day in Kingwood gutting houses. I'm exhausted. Mentally and physically. The destruction is awful, but people spirits were high. I brought a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter in case anyone was hungry. I turned down more food than I can even count. People and business just driving around handing out food. It was a beautiful thing to see. Back at it tomorrow.

Travel update for those wondering. I just left Livingston, TX using the same route jmar posted. Left BR around 2 this afternoon. Jasper doesn't have power and the next gas station is the shell by the Coushatta reservation - and then a bunch of stations in Livingstonare open and have gas. Cutting through the forest via 150 to 45 and into Conroe for the night.

That's the way it was last year in Denham/ BR after the flood. The acts of kindness from those that knew no one there was extremely touching. It certainly makes you thankful for the important things in life.

The taste, smell, and itching of wet and molded gypsum board is something that you will never forget.
