500 sit-ups a day
But why? Good gosh that is just stupid. Eat better...
There is too much BS out there. Go lift heavy things and listen to 777's advice on that.

HIIT track workouts 1-2 times a week, and long runs 2-3 times a week. Start drinking bourbon instead of beer.

As others stated... diet. If you want to kill the gut, do more with your diet than cutting sweets and only drinking water. Also, some foods you eat might be causing you to bloat.

What does your track HIIt workout look like Lou?

Well I've already lost 25 pounds, but yeah I'll cut back on the sit-ups

if you want to do something for abs, do hanging leg raises or strict toes to bar. Also ab wheel is great.

Max Trainer by Bowflex. They recommend 14 minutes a day. I am on it one minimum one hour a day. Got it right in front of the tv. Got three pieces of towel under it. My exercise room does not smell good, but I am rather slim, drink several beers a night, and eat a lot of meat. I love the machine. I bought the M3, about $1,500 with the extended warranty and tax. Extremely well built piece of equipment.

No breads, potatoes, dairy, fruit (except avacado and tomatoes). More veggies and slow carbs like beans and lentils. Drink red wine instead of beer but in moderation. Consume 30g of protein 30 min upon awakening. Do full body lifts 3 times a week. Only need to do abs if you want to. Diet is key, and lifts like squat, cleans, deadlifts are all you really need to accelerate lean muscle growth and increase testeoetone and growth hormone. And HIIT on track is best. Good luck.

has no effect on fatty tissue unless in a deficit.

You can't spot target fat loss. Usually belly fat is the last fat to go for most men. Sit ups crunches etc. Won't do anything
It's 95% diet. Have to lose weight
All of this

Just because you do sit ups doesn't mean you're going to get abs, or lose your beer gut. You burn fat collectively over you whole body through cardio, weight lifting, and diet. Lower your carb intake, and that will help you. Try the paleo diet. That's a good, easy diet to start with.

The gut area is like the deep end of the pool, last to drain, and first to fill.
Best analogy I've heard. I have been cutting back on beer, focusing more on fat burning at the gym and everything else is coming along so much faster.
I'll take a week off from beer, feel good about myself then 4-5 in one night has me right back to where I started. Frustrating, but such is life for a 30something who spent a decade pounding beers.

2 things:
1.Calories burn > Calories In
2. Do what I am doing prioritize beer calories vs food calories. I have cut my eating down to a minimal amount. I basically eat lunch. No breakfast and some roasted peanuts when I get home. I then start drinking beer about 5-9pm. 2 IPAs and 2-3 American pilsners(Coors,High Lifes) every night. Lost about 16 pounds This method seems to stall at 185 pds for me. I'm 6'1 so I can live with 185 better than 200 I was at. I do no exercises except drinking. ??
