WASHINGTON, Aug. 9 (Yonhap) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis warned North Korea Wednesday to stop provocations that could bring destruction to its regime and its people.
The rebuke comes as tensions have heightened over North Korea's threats to strike the U.S. with nuclear weapons.
"The DPRK should cease any consideration of actions that would lead to the end of its regime and the destruction of its people," Mattis said in a statement. DPRK is the acronym of North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
"While our State Department is making every effort to resolve this global threat through diplomatic means, it must be noted that the combined allied militaries now possess the most precise, rehearsed and robust defensive and offensive capabilities on Earth," the secretary warned. "The DPRK regime's actions will continue to be grossly overmatched by ours and would lose any arms race or conflict it initiates."
He also issued a direct warning to North Korea's leader.
"Kim Jong-un should take heed of the United Nations Security Council's unified voice, and statements from governments the world over, who agree the DPRK poses a threat to global security and stability."

I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you frick with me, I’ll kill you all."

Can you imagine being Kim Jong Un? He probably just wanted to be an architect or something and watch basketball at night but he had to be a dictator like his dad and now everybody's talking about killing him or putting him in jail

I wonder how CNN and the media will now try to continue mocking POTUS because of his tough statement. Or if the POS McCain types will run to a camera and diss Mattis like they did Trump?

People only mock lines in the sand when you don't back up your words.
It's called pulling an Obama.
Trump made a threat, Kim called his bluff.
Mattis, who I like a lot, has redrawn the line.
Should be fun.

Anyone else get the feeling we are trying to tempt them to make a first move?

McCain won't say a word about Mattis but I'll bet he keeps running his mouth about Trump.

Yeah, that is a very clear and intentional remark from a man that does not frick around with his words. I was actually waiting to hear a statement like this from him, and view it as the last attempt to quell the bullshite. To me, just my opinion, shite from our end just got real.

Diplomacy is good. Every now and then though you have to remind people who the craziest motherfricker on the block is.
Break one off in his arse and see if Iran doesn't tone their bs down too.
