Anyone drive one of these? In my 15 years of driving I've never owned anything other than different Hondas, but I'm thinking about making the switch to Subaru. I don't know if I like the Impreza, Crosstrek, Outback, or Forester best, but I'm leaning towards the Crosstrek, as it seems to be a good balance of size/price/features. Thoughts from anyone who drives a Subaru? (No, I'm not a hippie or lesbian).

We are seriously considering the Outback. Had a friend own an Impreza WRX for 8 or 9 years with no problems. Subaru only has two chassis for all of their vehicles. They've been using the same Boxer engine for many years too. They keep it simple. Only Subaru I wouldn't mess with is the BRZ. Other than that, all other vehicles are flagship vehicles.

We had an Outback, but someone hit and totaled it 2 months ago. We will buy another in the future. Loved it. Only thing I think we would change is we'd like to have the V6 instead of the 4 cylinder.

Did fantastic in the accident too, my wife's only injury was from her foot being thrown off the brake pedal and banging against the gas pedal.

Edit: Older ones, as in early 2000s and before all had head gasket issues. But that has been ironed out in newer ones. They hold their value like crazy too. Our's had been in a previous accident when we bought it, and insurance still gave us more than we paid for it. This was after we put 19,000 miles on it.

I have a '14 Crosstrek and love it. I've never been loyal to just one brand but I would definitely buy another Subaru down the line.

I rented an Outback for two weeks during a recent trip. It's a good vehicle that I will consider on my next purchase. It has more gadgetry than I'm used to, but then I didn't have a lot of time to better familiarize myself with it. 4½ out of 5 stars.

My brother rented a Crosstrek; from the way he drove it, I'd say he was very comfortable with it.

Subarus are solid cars. Don't listen to the losers here who tout them as "lesbian cars." There's a reason why most cars you see on the road in the mountains are Subaru.

do the Lez-barus still come with 2 rescue pitbulls so you and your "wife" can feel like you've had children?

Wife has a Forester. Plenty of room and over 24 mpg combined. The full time four wheel drive makes up for the lack of a 6 cylinder when power is needed

I bought one for my son. It's a great little car.

If you change your own oil, be very careful. The transmission looks exactly like the crankcase. It's weird underneath.

i've had one for fifteen years and it was my La/college car and i have never had one problem. They are unbelievable automobiles. My sister has had her forester for 13 years and also has never had one problem.

We have a client who works in the service dept at Subaru. When I told him I liked how the Crosstreks looked he quickly told me not to bother with them. Overall the car is great, but the engine power is greatly lacking. They basically just took an Impreza engine and dumped it in a compact SUV. If anything, go with the Outback or Forester - and get the turbo engine. This fall I will be getting a Forester XT Touring.
