Former Philadelphia Phillies All-Star catcher Darren Daulton has died at 55, the team said Sunday.
Daulton was diagnosed with cancer in 2013 and had been in remission in 2015. He was a key part and leader on the 1993 Phillies team that surprised by winning the National League pennant and lost to the Toronto Blue Jays in six games in the World Series.
"We played hard and did everything hard. It was fun, and that was what made us special," Daulton once said of the improbable '93 team.
Daulton was found to have two brain tumors in June 2013 and, after surgery to remove them, was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a highly malignant form of brain cancer, the following month. He underwent radiation, speech therapy and other treatment before announcing he was cancer-free in February 2015.

He was in remission since 2015. What did he die of then? Did it return and the article didn't mention it?

If you would have told me Lenny Dykstra would outlive Dutch, I would have thought you were insane.

I'd love to know how much cocaine those early 1990's Phillies teams consumed. It was probably enough to kill a large army.

Well at least you didn't say or imply steroids caused the tumor

Sucks to see him go, but he had a great life. MLB career, All-Star, played in a World Series, and married a Playboy centerfold.
Pretty good resume. RIP

Odd that Dykstra outlived him.

I remember his last year in the league, he's a 36 year old catcher and for a good part of the season he was battling Delino DeShields for the league lead in triples. He ended up with 8 or 9 that season.

He was a great late season pickup and pinch hitter for the 1997 World Series Champion Florida Marlins.

RIP. He was on the Marlins 1997 World Series team that won it all. I was just watching him play with those good Phillies teams on YouTube 2 nights ago.
