“We’re especially worried up front,” coach Ed Orgeron said. “There’s a concern.”

Orgeron did not reveal injury specifics for Clapp, Weathersby and Malone. He qualified them as “regular camp injuries” that are not “going to last a long time.”

“K.J. Malone’s been in and out with some slight injuries. We feel like he’s going to be back Monday,” the coach said. “Will Clapp’s been in and out. (We’re) watching the reps with him. Those guys have been in and out. Young guys got to step up.”

On Teuhema situation...
Does this sound academic? Is so, what was said about O not keeping up to date or pushing a key player at a thin position on top of his grades is of concern
“I wish things would have turned out different, on LSU’s part, my part especially and the player’s part,” he said. “We tried everything we could to keep him here.”

“K’Lavon Chaisson has been dominant,” Orgeron said. "He’s hard to block. He’s all over the place.”

On CEH as surprise of camp...
“We always knew he was a good back, but about three days ago, he had a dominant day, first day in pads. Dominant,” Orgeron said. “He had three runs over 60 yards, way he makes them miss and hits the holes, versatility.”

Since when does a player and his father dictate where, when and if a player plays? This is concerning on several levels...

“The offense loves him. I think he’s going to fit in well. He and his father are happy,” the coach said. “He always has the option to go back to safety if he doesn’t feel that he’s getting what he wants at receiver.”

CEH?

Are you really too lazy to say Clyde Edwards-Helaire?

I don't need this much transparency from Orgeron. Hate to hear that a player and his dad are dictating the terms.

This is the point that is not understood by the crowd that thinks a great offensive coordinator plus a great defensive coordinator equals a great team. There are 500 other things like that going on in the background. Is O managing them well? Can he?

Saban does not lose Maea. He would have had a plan for Maea that was part of his overall process. These are the things that success as an interim head coach does not prove out. Hopefully it is an isolated instance.

Is Chaisson dominant because he's that good or is it because or O line is weak?

If our O line is in fact a big liability I'm afraid it's going to be very average season. There is only so much a coordinator can do to disguise a weakness.

We are going to lose more than 3 games in the sec if O is worried about our offensive line that much.

You are reading too much into the comment I think. Naturally a parent might be concerned. Especially when you recruit a top talent to come to your school, lay out a plan, vision, and position to him and his parents on how he will be used. In spring and summer workouts, the kid does well at the position he was recruited for, and then all of a sudden you change that plan and position in the falI. I definitely think O handled it right be talking to him and his parent, and giving him the option. He presented him one thing and plan in recruiting and during spring and summer workouts, but later saw opportunity for him at receiver (at least temporarily). Looks like O was straight forward with him and dad, and gave him opportunity to move back to original position if he wants. No problem with it at all.

So in addition to Maea transferring, 3 of our other starting olinemen are hurt after one week of practice.

Cool

The fact he would come out and say this says it all. We're fricked at OL.

Type out the fricking name. WHat you gain in less letter is lost in time it takes to figure out who the frick you're talking about.

We finally have a coach whose not afraid to tell the truth.

Helaire could end up being a star in this offense. His stature is perfect.

CherriOs said in the other thread that Maea leaving didn't really change much. Weird that he's worried and they aren't.

"Young guys got to step up.”

This is the material point. Orgeron is putting pressure through the media on the young, talented O-linemen, to get them to focus and improve.

They will need to play sooner, rather than later and we expect more from them than we're getting, at the moment.

They need to rise to the occasion and meet expectations. We need them to immediately contribute.

So I suppose any O zealots will now seize on "unavoidable" O-line attrition as justification if we suffer a subpar season?
