The type of food we eat isn't having near as big an impact as the size of the portions we eat.
Yup, American culture, southern culture all of these compound.

I have at times poked fun at those claiming 'food deserts'. I live in a rural area, and the nearest cities are not large (to the point) to allow for such. This may indeed be an issue elsewhere.
However, though I seldom venture into supermarkets, the occasions in which I do reveal an epidemic of obesity among all ethnicities of shoppers. I can not speak to the causes in large urban areas elsewhere, but here in the 'sticks' the problem is not the availability of healthy food.
Culture and apathy are the culprits in my opinion, not ignorance. In fact, there is a pervasive culture OF apathy.

Right, almost any "Americanized" version of international foods are worse for you than the original.
Our tastebuds have evolved to require this in America. Healthier, less tastier foods are less rewarded in the marketplace and so they cost more or fail.

When you have hot dog eating contests, you leave from apathy to outright celebration of gluttony.
This is ingrained in our culture.

If you're going to talk about culture and obesity, we're gonna have to address the elephant in the room. Why are Republican states the most obese?
LINK
What is it about Republican culture that causes obesity?

Lazy poors want cheap food that they don't have to cook and they dgaf about their health.
It's really not culture, just laziness and apathy.

Your gotcha attempt failed.
According to that map, of the 5 thinnest states, 2 are republican, 2 are democrat, and 1 is a swing state.
NY, washington, Minnesota, VT, and NJ all have similar obesity rates to Idaho, WY, AZ.
Blue states (before trump at least) like MI, WI, PA, and Maine all are among the most obese.
The deep south is obese because of culture.

So what else can explain this besides choice and culture, liberals?

You could put a grocery store in a food desert and its survivability would be on sugary and unhealthy foods. Not because the poor can't afford bananas, lettuce, and tomatoes. Most of them are impulsive and low IQ which makes them choose instant gratification rather than long term benefit. Bad and impulsive decisions along with laziness are what keep them mired in poverty.

Can you point out which ones are which on the list from that map?
quote:
47 California 24.2%
48 Montana 23.6%
49 Hawaii 22.7%
50 District of Columbia 22.1%
51 Colorado 20.2%
And if we're looking at the 5 thinnest, don't we have to contrast that with the 5 fattest?
quote:
1 Louisiana 36.2%
2 Alabama 35.6%
2 West Virginia 35.6%
2 Mississippi 35.6%
5 Kentucky 34.6%

Only 2 democrat? I think you need to make better use of your fingers to count. Lets see the 10 thinnest states.
are Colorado --> swing, but swinging more to Democrats.
Hawaii --> Democrat
Montana --> Republican, but really small population
California --> Democrat
Massachussetts --> Democrat
Utah --> Republican
New York --> Democrat
Vermont --> Democrat
Connecticut --> Democrat
New Jersey --> Democrat
Rhode Island --> Democrat
By my count that's 7 Democratic states, 2 Republican, 1 swing.

Sorry, I was just looking at the map you linked and the colors. I didn't notice the actual stats.
Anyway, states are not people.
The two fattest groups in America are hispanics and Blacks, the two groups that vote the most democrat.
It's silly to think that someone's political views influence their weight.
In fact, it's like saying someone's favorite sport influences their favorite color.,

There's absolutely nothing wrong with eating carbohydrates provided you actually get your heart rate above the resting rate occasionally.
There are no good carbs if you live a completely sedentary life.

LOL, don't think we'll ever get a response, facts are only relevant when it fits their narrative.

3 of those states voted for bill clinton by huge margins twice.
Why are bill clinton voters so fat?

Have you been to your Local Walmart? Obesity is striking all ethnic groups.
Posted on 7/26/17 at 4:43 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
YOu still have to explain fat Republican States like West Virginia. And the number of fat African-American and Hispanics, still doesn't account for all the obesity of the state.
