So did McCain cause the fire or not?

His jet launched the rocket on the deck, he was strapped in and had to eject.

The official word was electronic malfunction. I've never heard the theory of a wet start as the cause. It was widely known that McCain was a legacy, I believe he really didn't want to go in the Navy and finished pretty low in his class at Annapolis.

A Navy cover-up wouldn't surprise me one bit.

No, it's based on the Navy investigation which includes physical evidence and extensive film/photographic records. Your article, on the other hand, seems to be based on... what exactly?

Just watched the film. So you're saying that Zuni rocket that came from the plane on the video was not the plane McCain was piloting?

Dude, when Burt sees a lot of neocons who love their own in McCain and liberals and libertarians who love a trump hating republican, he sees a prime target to go ape shite on for his next troll project.

I made it to this part before I stopped reading this garbage. Don't get me wrong, it was garbage from the first word, but this is just a flat out lie.

I should've known when I saw LewRockwell.com

Yes. The OP doesn't say that either, if you read it carefully.
quote:

This and the large subsequent electrical surge and apparent (incorrect and against policy) weapon arming (by the pilot) caused the launching of a powerful Zuni rocket across the carrier’s deck hitting other parked planes (photo below) that were packing 1,000 high-explosive pound bombs.
Note how he says "by the pilot" and not McCain.

I'd add more but I realized who I was responding to.

I'm just saying there aren't any politician John McCain fans posting here. Like, zero.

Obviously, some people are going to swallow the hook when you bait it with military stuff, I just think it's some of Burt's lamer work.

Yeah McCain's politics are terrible. That doesn't mean I'm going to swallow a chain email that someone copy/pasted to LewRockwell.

Yep, I was completely misinformed. That's what I get for going by sea stories in the fleet.

Looks like McCain was in an A-4 that was hit by the rocket, or in close proximity. He didn't eject, he climbed out.

OP is wrong. Also, I can't imagine a wet start being something common on the flight deck. I've only seen one, it was a B-52, and it was startling as shite.

Ypu guys are so invested in Trump, you'll try to justify anything he says. Y'all have officially sold your soul. In what war did Trump serve? Get your head out his arse man.

Okay. I guess it's really besides the point. However I still despise the guy and think he's a total prick. And I say that as son of a mother that died of breast cancer as I witness her last breath.

Trump so far has been the complete opposite of that.

People judge you by your actions, not your words.

So what are you saying? No one should have any issues with Trump's actions/behavior? Why not build some consensus on the issues facing this country? Why not act like an American first, vice a REP or DEM, or any other political affiliation? Why not lead from the front and by example?

The current healthcare situation is a GREAT example. Why not FIX what is wrong with the ACA? Some aspects are helping people, and have merit. Why do we need to repeal the entire legislation impacting medical providers, insurance companies and MOST importantly American citizens? Let's take a page out of any successful organization's playbook and fix what needs to be fixed and move forward smartly. I could care less what we call it, I just want it to work for Americans in regards to services and affordable premiums.

Until Trump quits pontificating "I' and "me" (worried about his status) and starts talking "we" and "us" (AKA the American people), he is not going to accomplishment anything meaningful or lasting during his tenure.

nor am I a big fan of Senator McCain. But he IS an American hero for his war record and it is absurd that anyone wants to criticize him while he is fighting cancer.

Coming from a Republican, I have long considered McCain to be a loose cannon. However, that does not take away from his war record, and I certainly wouldn't kick the man while he is down .... on what looks like his last rodeo.

Trump is not the problem in this example. He has pen in hand and is ready to sign. The problem is the US Camber of Commerce Republicans who want corporate welfare for the insurance companies and the real conservatives in the senate who want to nix corporate welfare.

These US Chamber of Commerce Republicans want socialism for their corporate buddies but want capitalism for you...they want you to pay the high prices. At least they should give you some socialism and cap health insurance prices like they want to give socialism to their corporate buddies.

Even though I voted the Republican ticket in 08, his choice of Palin really made me question his judgment. I had no idea where his head was in selecting her. Sure she was sort of cute but she was an airhead and goofball wrapped into one.

Because it equates some schlunk who was a mechanic at Fort Polk who joined up to stay out of prison or get the benefits, with people who returned from Europe, Vietnam, the Pacific theater, etc. where real fighting occurred.

It is not the same.
