Dear diary, get off my lawn, etc

I'm not donating anything, I don't want a raffle, I'm not sponsoring them either. Pay for your kids if you decide to put them into sports.

I bet a bunch on here beg others for money so your child can play tee-ball

I'm a sucker for a big 50/50 raffle. Plus if the kid is hustling the money I don't mind nearly as much.

I put together a raffle to send my u9 team to Dominican republic this summer

After the flight, it only costs 29$ per kid to be there the entire time

All of the little füts were each on sports teams at one time or another.

I never asked or got any help from anyone else.

I did help paying for some of the other players who were on the teams.

Now, I don't have any markers out there.

I tell folks "negative" when they beg from me.

First, I don't think anyone is making you buy anything. Second, community organizations like little league baseball and pew wee football are all ran by volunteers who give their time and money to children.

In other words frick your way of thinking douchebag.

personally I like the large group of dindus that gather 1 inch from my drivers side window with a raggedy sign saying "give money for school uniforms"

It's not the kids fault that the parents are poor and trashy

Parents who let their kids panhandle at traffic lights to raise money for their travel basketball teams are trashy.

Way to teach the kids to expect free handouts.

Dear Diary,
I hate people who beg on the corners who are more than capable, half of the time they're scammers anyway. Being a kid begging for it is no different.

Know what I appreciate and like?

Kids who go to places like Advance Auto Parts and simply ask them if they would like to donate supplies and allow them to do car washes on the lot. The one in Belle Chasse is HUGE on helping, you bring the hoses they supply the rags/soap, you see it monthly from sports teams, BCHS teams, even the fire dept and navy go out there to do it. I don't even get a car wash most of the time, but if I have cash on me I donate.

what's wrong with a football board? lots of people like to gamble and pull for their team with the added chance to win some cash? at least the money actually goes to supporting the kids instead of making a casino richer??

When I was a kid playing sports, we always either sold stuff for fund raising or we did work. One summer my team all cut grass every Saturday for 6 weeks. I think we asked for $15 per yard (was in the 70's).

This begging for donations doesn't work for me.

I look at it this way. If they are doing a raffle or car wash, etc.. then that is helping them be on a team and not out running the streets. Playing organized sports can be a positive influence for kids and may keep one less thug off the street. I help them anyway I can.
Right now I'm coaching an 10U fast pitch girls team. I've always coached boys teams so this is a new challenge. We, thank God, had someone sponsor the jerseys and parents paid the rest including $60 entry per person. And I do it as volunteer type.
I don't ask or expect a dime from anyone for getting to the games or having practices between games to get better. I just look at it as helping our youth start young and hopefully not fall victim to all the crime around us.

The ones that set up outside of Walmart are the worst.

For some reason the teams out front of wal mart every Saturday bother me. That being said, I always walk over and give the coaches a copy of our fundraising program from work. They never contact me about it either.

Our club soccer team wants us to sell ducks for a race, strand outside Walmart, sell business discount cards, get sponsors for t shirts...all sorts of shite. I don't even read the emails.

If my children are going to participate in sports or any extracurricular activity it is my responsibility to pay for it. I do not expect anyone else to. I simply do not believe in begging for money for this.

I don't mind too much when it is the kids that are doing the work or selling items. Honestly, I can't stand it when the parents are just asking for donations or the kids are standing on a street corner with a coffee can and a sign.
