Whoever said the Astros are terrible at baserunning (and that Gary Pettus is a terrible third base coach) need to re-watch yesterday's game.

Perhaps you can re-watch all the games this season and get back to us on that?

Fangraphs has the Astros as the 5th worst base running team in MLB this year. I believe they were the worst at some point earlier.

They are an extremely aggressive team in terms of attempting to take extra bases and have not been a great stolen base team. It works out sometimes, but has been a net negative over the course of the year.

I think what happened was this...

DirecTV's sports network was called Root Sports and it launched in 2011.

In 2015, AT&T bought DirecTV. So now AT&T owned Root Sports. And I guess they wanted to rebrand to reflect that.

So nothing changed except for the new name and graphics. It's still "Root Sports" just with a different name.

I checked in on a Mariners broadcast this weekend and they were still Root but their graphics matched the ATT refresh in Houston. They just had an R in the bottom right instead of the ATT Globe.

Maybe not in this instant, but players are absolutely pulled if a trade happens mid game.

Agree, once the trade happens. They don't get pulled for a potential offers a few days down the road.

I just had MLB radio on, and the hosts were laughing it up about how Nitkowski has become the Twitter enemy of Astros fans.

The Mariners are majority owners (60%) of their Root Sports channel. AT&T owns the other 40%. I suppose the M's didn't want to rebrand.

USA Today predicts landing spots for all trade targets

Spoiler alert

quote:

Prediction: Gray goes to the Astros for starter Joe Musgrove, prized pitching prospect Forrest Whitley and outfield prospect Teoscar Hernandez.

^Hesitant about this bc Whitley really seems to be on the path to be an absolute stud. If it were to happen I really hope the organization has faith in Martes panning out

quote:

Prediction: The Astros acquire Wilson, who’s under control through 2018 for outfield prospect Derek Fisher.

^Has my full support

Teams have been trying, but sorry, #Tigers Michael Fulmer not going anywhere at this time, only Justin Wilson, JD Martinez and Alex Avila.

Replace Whitley with martes and I'm on board. Let the downvotes flow, but we would still have

Dk
Lance
Grey
Fiers
Morton
Pea

I don't think Whitley moves unless deGrom or Fuller are involved.

If we're not giving up Bregman to get Sale, I just can't see Whitley or Tucker for Gray.

Makes no sense.

Agreed on all of this. And if its deGrom or Fulmer then if we can get away with only dealing one then we can consider it highway robbery.

DeGrom is a pipedream. Build Luhnow a statue if he can convince the Mets to make a deal. I just see an unreasonable prospect package as what it takes to get the Mets to let go.

I've been riding the Gray train all along. I think he makes the most sense for us.

Just got on for the first time today. I see that nothing's changed. Everyone still rehashing the same old scenarios.

Jose Altuve is 2nd in MLB among position players in fWAR at 4.8 behind Judge. Judge is in a mini slump and if the HR Derby curse holds true, Altuve will win MVP

Are you sticking by your "we're getting Gray. Book it." proclamation from the other night?

Yes.

Ludlow and Beane have traded on five different occasions since 2012. They have a great relationship, one where they both want to see each side improve in the event that they trade. Ludlow and Beane also share a lot of philosophies in how to grow a team. It's a match made in heaven, even if they are division rivals.

I'm watching the same games you are, brother.

I like a third base coach that is super aggressive. Get 'em home if you've got a shot. Make that outfielder or cutoff man make a perfect throw. We've got the wheels and the sticks. Let's be aggressive as f*ck, baby.
