Disney Christmas decorations

When do they put up the decorations? My daughter is 3 and loves Disney princesses and Christmas, not just presents but the whole deal, lights, music, decorations, the works.
I would love to take her during that time. When would be my best bet? I can take her during school time, so any week is an option.
Last, how much can a 3 year old do at Disney?

I took my kids last year the week after Thanksgiving and it was great. The parks weren't super crowded as many people go for thanksgiving and then closer to Christmas/New Year's.
All the decorations were up. The night time Christmas party (which is an extra ticket) starts in early November.
ETA: Regarding how much your 3 year old can do.... My 3 year old, at the time, was over 40 inches tall so he could ride the majority of rides except tower of terror, Everest, space mountain, rock and rollercoaster. Height cut off for the majority of the rides is around 40".

They go up in a few days right after Halloween. They do Christmas Party nights at the Magic Kingdom on certain dates. Looks like it starts on Nov 9 this year.
First two weeks after Thanksgiving use to be really good weeks.

Our best Disney trip was the week after Thanksgiving. Christmas in Disney is awesome

That's awesome. My daughter and I are huge Christmas nerds. We are the people
Singing jingle bells in July. I can't wait!
She is also the girl who wears princess dresse to the grocery store.

Early December.
First week or two. BEFORE school vacation.
The "Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Parade" and party was awesome. Every parade member was a fully engaged Disney character/employee. Tinker bell zip lined to the castle. It is one of the best firework shows I have ever seen. Amazing that they do it every night. It's a late night for a three year old though. Better load them up with Benadryl about noon to ensure a nap and wired kid at 11pm.

quote:My son was almost 3 last time we went. It was his birthday week actually. He had a blast. Only a few rides are off limits. He loved the characters. A MUST is the Mickey Mouse talking character at the front of magic kingdom. Get a fast pass or line up during a parade. There's also the christmas party which is a ticket in itself but they let you in at 4. Special parade and characters and fireworks. Shorter lines.

quote:False. Early November. November 1st actually. As soon as holloween is over they start putting up the Christmas stuff. We did it last year in the first week of November for the Wine and Dine half marathon. It's also when they film the thanksgiving day parade which has all the decorations up.

I thought the OP was also looking to avoid Disney Madness. I'm sure you're right about when things go up, but I saw first hand the Disney crowds were VERY manageable in early December.

They were great in early November too, especially the week after the wine and dine races. Very quiet time with the festival over and prior to thanksgiving.

I cannot imagine Disney during Spring Break or Christmas Break.
And Summer!!? Orlando heat and 2 hour lines.

Summer has become one of the slowest times actually. But the heat alone will absolutely keep me away. November and January have been our go-to times for about a decade now.

I've got an old fraternity brother who is a travel agent on the side. He is working on it now. We are going either the 1st or 2nd full week in December. I'm not sure who is the most excited my daughter or my dad. We are pumped up. Thanks again everyone.

It's crazy how it is changing. Food and wine festival use to be great, now it's getting crowded. Glad they added more time in September and it seems better then. Off season is pretty much almost gone now though.

Coach, you sound like a good dad.
Eat 'em up while they are little, they grow up really fast.
I hope y'all have a wonderful time.

Decos start going up overnight after closing on Oct 31.
We only go at Christmas time.

This...when you walk out on Oct 31 and walk in on Nov 1 the park will have already started its transformation to Christmas. Main Street will be the first to start to show the transformation but it will take a few weeks for the transformation to be complete, all the trees to be up, resorts to be finished, etc.
A go0d bit of the decorations are usually up through the first week or so through January.

Yeah, we bit the bullet again.
Wife had off July 24-28 so I bought her and our daughter tickets on frontier (like $160 for both round trip) so she is gong to surprise our daughter with a trip from 7/25-7/30. Then I am going to fly on on the southwest 5:20 am flight on 7/28 and surprise them both.
Not planning alot but should be fun. I was able ot get FP+ for everying so far except FoP so we plan to rope drop that on a EMH morning.
