re: Pels meeting with Rondo

I think Boogie has a strong enough personality to keep Rondo in check. I don't think he would recruit him down here and then let him be a locker room cancer. It may be his last chance to make a decent playoff run.

Rajon Rondo has talked to Knicks & Lakers about backup/mentor role. Pelicans offer more minutes. Clippers could be in play, too.

Would we ever consider starting Rondo, Jrue, Crawford, AD, DC? Hill off the bench?
If you swap any of those guys for Crawford I think it's Rondo. Crawford's terrible on defense but you can hide him on the worst guard with Holiday/Hill. He was one of our best PnR ball handlers last year. Cousins and Moore were a little better on fewer attempts. All 3 were in the 60th-70th percentiles and all 3 were superior to Jrue and Frazier. LINK
FTR, Rondo was terrible as a PnR ball handler last year, 19th percentile, and he wasn't much better the year before in Sac, 42nd percentile.

rondos skills are in transition passing

Because we're in the bargain bin and the other choice is probably Lawson. If you've broken down and are going to let your kid get the sugary cereal, does it do you any good to fight them on which one they want?

Yeah, look at that highlight vid thread, he can find the right guy in the chaos, but the other 4 guys will have to all be moving at the same time to create that chaos in the half court. Something that coaches have tried and failed to get this team to do since Monty was here.

Also of interest, if we're talking to Rondo about a backup role, does that mean they plan to start Moore, or do they plan to bring in another starting guard still?

Could they still do the Reggie Jackson trade and bring in Rondo or would that put them over the cap?
Posted on 7/14/17 at 2:04 pm to TigerinATL
IMO it is still the plan to sign ballhandler to s5 and let Moore go.
And Rondo should be third guard in this system.

Pawel what are your twitter sources saying about rondo

side note, if anyone has a connection with anyone from the TBW please tell them they need better personalities and more basketball IQ on their podcast. It's so boring and their analysis is so bad.

Maybe if rondo is ok with coming off the bench they could shift there attention to trading for someone like Fournier or like him that can shoot and play some at the SF spot. Then Rondo can still get a lot mins with a lineup of Rondo Holiday Fournier Davis and Cousins

that would be EXACTLY what the pels need.

I don't know if the Pels have the assets for that. More realistic is Terrence Ross. He can play some 2 or 3, and can probably be had a a relatively cheap price (I would assume). He has 2 years/21 mil left on his deal.

my guess is that the new GM will try to at least salvage some more trade value than where he is now. he is a former lottery pick.
that said, that's what the pels need. outside shooting and floor spacing. someone who can guard wings.

My nba sources are not using twitter for contact with me...
That team is not interested in Rondo. FWIW thinks he may work in NO. But 'wont be surprised if Pels have other options' (exact quote).
But this is not a source from NO
