re: Marcus Spears brings the heat: Leonard Fournette was done a disservice by LSU

Just my opinion but I believe Fournettes talent made it harder for Les to change his philosophy on offense. They didn't do anything special against Auburn in 2015 or Ole Miss in 2016.
I think it's easier or maybe more emphasis is placed on being creative on offense when you have lesser talent.

Exhibit A is the Ole Miss game. Not taking anything away from LF. Spears has issues with Miles, always has, always will. Why drag that up now? Miles is gone Leonard got paid. Time to move on.

In a better offense he may have won the Heisman imho.

We needed a new bash Les thread. It has been a few days

And if we ran a gimmicky offense that he got hurt in they could be saying "You play to his strengths and play power football with him." Or "if he'd been in a pro style offense in college he would be more ready for the NFL." It's so easy to say afterwards what SHOULD have happened. Hell if Miles isn't here maybe Fournette doesn't even come to LSU. I'm glad he did and being selected in the top 5 and even considered (rumor) for the first overall pick I'd bet he is glad he did as well.

Small chance you may have been better but an even bigger chance you could have been worse.
Like Charlie Conway told Gordon Bombay.
Gordon: A quarter of an inch and it goes in
Charlie: yea but a quarter of an inch the other way and you miss completely.
I am a firm believer that it was time to let Les go and maybe sooner than they did but Les did some great things while he was here and it was a fun ride for the most part. People one day will remember the good over the bad I believe.

Coach Miles was such a great coach that people are still looking for reasons to fire him ,marques spear is juat another negatiger working angainst LSU and calling hisself a fan !

A creative offense doesn't have to be gimmicky. Run left, run right, and throwing bombs down the sideline was pretty much our offense in a nutshell. It was so predictable it was comical.

I don't disagree with you at all. The predictability killed me. Running into 8 and 9 man fronts killed me. It's weird that anything remotely outside of that will seem or be referred to as gimmicky.

Call me crazy, but he probably would have liked to have achieved some vaguely noteworthy team accomplishments while in college. I'm not sure Texas Bowl Champs and Music City Bowl runner-up quite qualify.
Well said...................

That was last year. Why bring it up at this point? Marcus trying to stir shite up.

Wow!!!! Hot take!!! Nobody has ever said or thought this same thing before. Bravo Mr Spears
You and I, and thousands of rank and file LSU fans have said it, but we don't have a media platform or the credibility of a famous ex LSU and NFL star. I'm glad he said it. I've seen LF belittled and even called a bust on the SEC Rant and in other circles. I'm glad someone with a big audience is helping to make it known that the great talent that was LF was much much better than the Miles' offense allowed him to show.

wasn't he the 4th overall pick in the draft?
Posted on 7/11/17 at 6:57 pm to 1999
LSU did not do a disservice to Leonard. Miles offense was a negative but this young man was profiled, supported, and cherished by the university and it's fans. He was drafted in the first round and he became a very well rounded and team oriented young man. Marcus comments are a disservice to LSU and Leonard.

he broke every single seasons rushing record in lsu history
He had the 2nd best rushing season in SEC HISTORY.
He was the 1st sec rb to lead the ncaa in rushing in over a half century.
He ran behind an oline built to run the ball and ran behind great fbs.
