I am looking at 9-3/10-2 type season. QB play limits the upside of the team. Hoping someone steps up and surprises in a good way.

I'm expecting it to be quite different in many aspects. What I'm uncertain of if that nets a change for the positive or negative. In other words, we're going to be pleasantly somewhat surprised or really really disappointed. I've seen enough to be hopeful, not enough to be confident, that the net will be positive.

Some things that won't change:
We'll still be in the 60 %'s of run plays vs pass plays. The run will still be the bread-and-butter.

Recruiting will still be a roller coaster

QB play will still be average or at best slightly above average partly because we'll continue to allow too much pressure against good D's.

Rant will still bitch about above QB. Period. There will be lots of "CEO can't develop a QB" threads also, no matter who the QB is.

What "fundamental" differences I'm looking for:
Tweaks in offense GAME-TO-GAME that indicates this staff is indeed practicing for and targeting each opponents defensive weaknesses (instead of "running our offense and lining up and beating them man to man")

WRs start the season with A) few issues getting off the line and B) running crisp routes and C) appear to be where DE (or QB) expects them to be. QB needs all the help he can get, from game 1.

OL: show us more coaching/development Grimes. There are holes and lack of depth/experience, sorry. This is where the rubber meets the road. For your sake, DE/Guice's sake, for our sake. Essentially, IF the previous staff and/or offensive philosophy was holding you back- prove it.

Just having a little fun on a Friday morning. Lighten up Francis.

Until we see this offense against SEC defenses week in and week out, I don't think anyone can really predict what is going to happen.

You are one pissy dude. It's just football. Lighten up.

The answer to your question is that we are looking at two losses, at least. Three would not surprise me. We are down at the moment, which is the result of various cyclical and systemic forces. We've pinned our hopes to a guy whose only HC experience was a drastic failure to turn the program around. If I were a betting man, which I am not, I would not put money on that happening.

IMO, this would mean LSU is not going to have a very successful year. I realize that freshmen have come in and started and succeeded, but far more do not. If we have to bring in a freshman to replace a senior, I'm not sure I can see that as a positive.

I don't think QB is an issue this year. Etling is like a 6'6 basketball player with a strong inside game... he's not a bigtime prospect, but he has the tools to succeed here at this level. Especially with the other guys on offense.

I'm worried about Orgeron longterm with the program, but that isn't an issue this season.

I think we go 10 or so wins, maybe spring a big upset at Bama.

Anywhere from 8-4 to 11-1. While we all love Aranda, hard to see the D be as great as it was last year (statistically one of best all time).

Who knows what to expect from the O other than Guice?

You shouldn't. It will mean that's Etling either gets hurt, or really sucks, and that we've probably lost a couple games already. The positive side of seeing him play, though, will be that he came in and balled out, and passed up a couple guys that have been on campus for a while. My hopes for MB this coming season is for him to get his weight up to about 210-215, master the playbook, and develop good relationships with his OL and skill position guys. Word is that he's put on around 10 pounds already, but with how lite he already was, it's not enough to last in the SEC for a full season.

So which games are we supposed to win, because aren't we favored by Vegas in every game, but Bama, as of now?

I am most concerned with the WR's. I really wish Malachi would have stayed. Could have had a huge year. Need some guys to step up. I think Aranda will have the D ready to go.

I think with Chark and Gage as our main targets, we will be fine. Then throw in Davis, Anderson, Dillon and Moreau, and we will have a decent passing game. I don't think the passing game will blow anyone away, but I think we'll see a more diverse approach. I hope to see Canada use different ways to get the ball in different guys hands, and not just fly routes down the sideline or 5 yard hitches.

Id rather have a bum year and have Brennan get experience. I'm jumping on the hype train.

Edit: Because we will not beat bama or get to a national championship with Etling. He's a 5/10 on a good day.

I agree, but I'd also like to not kill Myles' confidence in his freshman year. Let's not go through another Jarrett Lee situation.....
