I went like 7 times in the last 1.5 years and moving there in a week so now I'm more interested in carving out my favorite local spots (and have found some faves),
Welcome to the fold, bud.
Sounds like you've got it squared away, but hit up AbitaFan if you've got any questions about local spots in Southie/Cambridge. He's your guy.
I haven't been in the area as long as he has (I've been there about two years). But if you have any questions about spots in Back Bay/Downtown/Beacon Hill, let me know. I live in East Boston, but I spend most of my time downtown.
Hopefully we will see you at the Baseball Tavern this fall.

I just went there a few days ago and it was a great trip (Thanks Abitafan08!). We stayed at the Club Quarters Hotel. It was in a great location and had the usual perks of a boutique hotel. The highlights for us were the JFK museum and an absolutely superb dinner at Limoncello in the North End. Have fun.

Ate there for the first time back in January. Really good spot.

You just listed every super touristy thing possible.
Sometimes a "touristy" thing is a must do, like the 9-11 memorial in NYC.
Sometimes, "touristy" is a complete shite show, such as Hollywood blvd in Los Angeles.
But, these things are popular with tourists for a reason, and merit a visit. A vacation should consist of both local, lesser known spots, and the must-do tourist attractions.

Starting to book the trip now. We are thinking about spending 2 days in Martha's Vineyard and 1 day in Cape Cod. Looks like Air BNB is the best option in those two cities, recommendations of places to eat and see would be great.
After Cape Cod end up in Boston for 4 days. We are SPG members and plan on using points, what hotel do yall recommend? We are most defiantly doing a Boston game but would also like to spend the day exploring the city seeing history attractions or tours and eating and drinking at local hot spots. Any help is greatly appreciated to fill 4 days of exploring in Boston.

Mike's Pastry has another location now by Harvard, no lines.
Check out Coolidge Corner, neat little place to grab some food.

I could really use a lobster tail pastry from Mike's right now. Thanks for making my mouth water

Wife now wants to spend some time in Salem so any suggestions there too would greatly appreciated.

Frankly there's not much to do in Salem other than the Witch Tours.

thats all there is to do really. I was in Salem right around halloween time and they were having a festival that was ok to kill a few hours at, but don't expect much more.

Not much to do in Salem. House of Seven Gables is neat.
Not too far from there is Gloucester and Rockport that are neat to grab a meal and spend some time seeing if you wanted to combine it with Salem.

my wife and I spent a night at the bearskin neck motor lodge in rockport, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. don't spend more than 2 hours in Salem. Rockport is a quaint little town, with some great seafood. This lodge is at the end of a pier and the beauty is breathtaking.

I'd suggest renting a car and driving up the coast if Salem is a "must."
As mentioned before, Salem is kinda dull outside of Halloween time. But if you rent a car and shoot straight north from Salem to spots like Newburyport, Portsmouth, and Kittery (Maine), it's a nice drive and the towns are really cool. You could easily kill a day driving up there.

Thanks we will have a rent car. Ive convinced her we do not need to spend to much time in Salem but she would still like to do a witch tour.
