If Women's Tennis has to be the sacrificial lamb for Joe Alleva to be fired I'll take it. I saw we make a show and riot and demand a competent AD that will restore glory to the Women's Tennis team.

No Worries, the NCAA is so selfSERVING...they will never LET on that they NETted LSU in a recruiting RACKET. Ge a GRIP!

give me some hints on what exactly they did to get to this point please

what Tigerbait357 said plus a lot more, because essentially it was happening with multiple recruits. I'm curious to see what happens because it sounds like not only were they committing some pretty flagrant violations, they were very sloppy in hiding it.

If you want some real gossip on how blatant they were, it sounds like one of the main reasons the mens coach was let go was because he knew too much and was questioning Alleva and Eddie Nunez on how they were allowing it to happen.

So the AD was not only OK with this stuff happening, but were encouraging it.

The thing about a smaller sport like women's tennis is there's a fairly small recruiting pool, so the girls the Sells were recruiting but didn't come here are the ones who have been chirping

Do I believe alleva and nunez had knowledge of the cheating? Sure. I'm cool with it too as long as we're smart about it.

Do I believe that's why Jeff brown was let go? Hell no brown wasn't recruiting well at all even after the new facility was built. Things had gotten stale with the program, so when the facility was built brown's seat became warm. Two years in and it was pretty clear brown wasn't going to elevate the program.

Also this sounds a lot like what happened to ole miss in regards to prestige and whistleblowers.

It sounds like powerhouse programs were becoming butt hurt LSU was coming on to the scene so they had their players recruited by LSU be narcs

I really don't care, it's women's tennis.
Shut the program down. Death penalty!
For gender equity purposes, start a bowling team.

Allegedly, The AD and assistant AD were made aware of major violations within one its sports teams from someone within the athletic department, and chose not to do anything for over 2 years.

The NCAA was then made aware.

You,and every LSU fan, should care. This shite is going to get real

Well, it just depends on the trail that could actually lead back to Alleva and Nunez. It's going to be extremely difficult for them to prove anything on record of either of them knowing about it, assuming they're not highly functioning retards

There's not even a trail of Bjork knowing the cheating at ole miss, where it seemed to be happening in just about every sport. it's one thing about them knowing, and it's another of there being definitive proof.

it'd be nice if Emmert came and threw us a bone by tossing the case out

Wouldn't hurt my feelings if they just nuked the women's tennis program. Seriously.

Where are you finding out this information? Someone inside LSU?

Alleva is in Italy right now, he could care less.
This trip is not like games back to back and come home.
They get to sightsee for two/three days before playing another game.

I really don't know what you're implying here. even non P5 programs with shite budgets manage to make these trips happen. it's not like there's audit findings that alleva and nunez are living some lavish lifestyle on TAF's budget

Every LSU fan should care about this, this is a big deal. From what I know, the Sell's reported their "arrangements" to recruits to the AD and two other people in the athletic department, obviously nothing was done.

This isn't a minor violation where we called during a silent period or whatever. Funneling cash and other benefits to recruits and their families is a major deal. This type of scandal even for a smaller sport could cause a major black cloud over LSU athletics.

If the NCAA finds all the things a lot of us know to be true. You can bet the NCAA will start to look into every LSU sport for other stuff too, if we are doing something this major with an AD with knowledge, who knows what another LSU program could be doing.

This could turn into a fishing expedition for the NCAA into LSU athletics. Violations happen all the time, a lot by accidents but a lot of small things. In the end, it can end up hurting a lot of other programs in the process and it puts LSU in bad terms with the NCAA which would be stupid

This is much bigger than just the Tennis program, the ramifications can impact many other sports here at LSU.

Probation and major loss of scholarships and other things can happen

That's the thing, they obviously werent. Which really sucks from an LSU fans perspective because like you said earlier, why use freaking women's tennis to try and gain an edge? And why allow it? What's the reward? (I can guess it was just Alleva wanting to make his hire look great)

Do I believe that's why Jeff brown was let go? Hell no brown wasn't recruiting well at all even after the new facility was built.

His recruiting was actually pretty solid, it was a couple of the vets that had a bad year and led to them missing the NCAAs (which he made 17 out of 20 years)

The tennis community was very shocked when Jeff Brown was let go. If the reason is Alleva expects tennis to be Top 5, then it's understandable why the Sells would feel the need to cheat with that pressure. It all starts at the top

Interesting stuff. Appreciate the input. I know Jeff Brown is well liked in the tennis community, but I do find myself being okay with brown being let go. I just didn't see where LSU was was really and truly getting better after the new facility was built.

Oh, I don't doubt for a millisecond that's why Alleva turned a blind eye. It's exactly why Bjork turned a blind eye while the WBB coach at ole miss tossed around red lobster cards

Off-topic, but since you seem pretty in tune with college tennis, do you like the Brandi hire(s)?

Volleyball and soccer coaches may be done after this season if they don't show marked improvement.

Its hard to say because it seems like Andy is just coasting to retirement (he's 65) so on its face its a very meh hire if Chris is the actual target

They haven't approved/announced the contracts yet, but I heard they are going to be paid equally 180K+ ... which if true would make Andy a top 5 paid in the nation and Chris the top "assistant" in the nation. So they better perform immediately

That was the problem I have. It seems evident Andy is a great coach, but he's clearly just positioning his son for the full-time gig within the next 3-5 years. Chris I think was unemployed before the hire? however, I like that he has experience at Baylor.
