Couple hundred at most. I know they have the reputation of being a horrible traveling fan base but give me a break.

But it was great seeing all the purple and gold take over the stadium. Had all the Omaha natives and Nebraska fans doing all of the Lsu chants. Sucks we didn't come out on top but was still a really awesome experience.

They have a horrible fan base in general. Nobody shows up to even Floridas home games. It's embarrassing to look at. At least lsu shows up and supports.

Let me help you out.

1) Louisiana is only a 1 day drive to Omaha. Florida is a 2 day trek.

2) LSU is the only power 5 team in the state. So it's easy for everyone in the state to be a fan. No competition.

3) Florida has multiple MLB teams and minor league programs to keep them busy. This draws fans away. Louisiana does not.

*It's similar to the way we laugh at Bama fans for going to the football spring game. There is nothing else for them to do right?
Same can be said about lsu baseball, they are the only ticket in town.

Would not matter to fans who care.

UF has fans, that's not the point. The point is they don't leave Florida to support their team unless it's for a football title.

The knock on Florida isn't just baseball fans, it's all of them. They are notorious for not travelling well outside of a very few exceptions.

Let me help you out:

That was the College World Series- The National Championship FInal in USA's past time sport- Baseball and Florida has 52,200 students compared to LSU with 31,500, a difference of 21,000 students and over the years many more alumni running all over the country so they can do better than that small attendence.

Your reasons are valid but they should travel better than they do for being such a big school with over 50,000 students!!

Since we're being snarky....They (UF's fanbase) don't care about college baseball (like 95% of NCAA schools). LSU is a complete anomaly in that regard. Thus, it's not surprising UF didn't have a great showing of fan support at the game.

They actually seemed to have a larger following at the women's CWS. They were badly outnumbered there as well but that was expected, as they were playing Oklahoma in OKC.

Their regional/super games were practically empty. It is one of the reasons O'Sullivan is being rumored for the SC job.

Is this a consolation prize for LSU fans?

The UF traveling fanbase sucks across all sports, football included.

the whole country, not just Fla, is missing out on a great college sport. i went to my first lsu baseball game in 1975 but it was so much fun to see the program take off in the mid 80s. i just don't get the lack of interest in college baseball nationally.

at least, i think, we won the PR war last night. there was more chatter about our fans than Fla's outstanding team and program

I don't blame the Florida fans for not traveling. It can't be easy finding the right bath salts in a new town.

I'm a waiter in Pensacola, Florida and I had to work last night during the game, and around the 4th inning I had a party of 20 people and almost all of them had some sort of Gator clothing on. I asked them why they weren't at home watching their team play for the championship, and they had no clue what I was talking about. They all claimed to be huge Gayterds fans but not one them knew their baseball team was in the CWS. I couldn't believe it

Nice story bro. I bet it's 100 percent accurate

20 people all dressed in Florida gear and not one of them knew that their team was playing in the CWS
