If he gets rid of Doc & Austin and resigns Blake, they could still be very good.

He's doing what needed to be done IMO. The Clippers are probably scared to rebuild because of their history but they had really hit their ceiling. They got a nice haul from Houston considering it was a sign and trade

Doubtful, without picking any other assets up.

I think they would be an okay team, but not great. Maybe competing for the 8th spot.

DeAndre Jordan
Blake Griffin
Wesley Johnson / Sam Dekker
Lou Williams / Jamal Crawford
Patrick Beverley

And the rest of the bench is nobodies.

They have no real playmaker on that team to run the offense. They wouldn't be good.

Never said they could compete against the 2 elite teams, just as they couldn't with CP3, and just like the rest of the NBA can't...I'm saying get rid of the cancer (Doc), keep Blake, and they'll still be a better than average team.

Interesting that Jerry West was just signed by LAC and now both stars may bolt, but it seems as though LAC may have kinda nudged them out, if you will, knowing they'd leave if they weren't offered the full max deals.

I think West was brought in with the idea that he might recommend a full rebuild. That team had maxed out their potential.

No better job security as a front office then selling everyone on a rebuild

The double edged sword on the rebuild is the length given that the Celtics own the Clips' lottery protected 2019 first.

If the rebuild lasts past 2019 they may be giving up a very high unprotected pick.

Whose first round pick doesn't belong to the Celtics seems like they have every bad teams 1st rounder

Ainge continues to play 6-D chess.

Too bad he won't make an offensive move anytime soon.

Milsap has good range and can really defend too.

yup. I thought he was more of a post type guy before he got to the Hawks, but he's really kind of an all-around scorer. floaters, runners, short jumpers. and his all around game is really underrated. better passer and defender than he's given credit for. put him as the 3rd option on a good team, and I think he's gonna get some Draymond type "all around player" love. Josh Smith without the headaches/ bad shot selection, and with leadership skills. can't say enough good stuff about Paul.

He woulda be the ideal small ball 5 to take on GSW IMO.

Put him out there with

Cp3
James
Gordon
Ariza
Milsap

and you can give em a run

Key to beating GS next year is making runs on their 2nd unit.

Iggy and Livingston will be big blows to them.

I just looked it up, and it's lottery-protected in 2019 and 2020.

After that it becomes a 2022 2nd rounder, somehow

NBA is weird.

But trading 3s and itd be fun as hell

Wouldn't underestimate that D If I were you. All of those guys have gotten votes for a All defensive team outside of James and he can more than hold his own.

CP3 - all defense every year
Gordon - quite a few all defense votes this year
Ariza - receives all defense votes every year and does as good a job as anyone on Kevin IMO
Milsap - has made the second team defense. Can protect the rim a little and rebound.

You'd be hard pressed to find a better defensive team to put out there v the warriors.
