A friend of mine was arguing with me about how blacks in baton rouge are targeted by cops. I asked him how many times he's been arrested or even had a run in with a cop. Zero was his answer.

So I told him about my arrest record. Asked a couple of other white guys if they had ever been arrested in br, low and behold they had. I just told him if you don't do illegal shite, you aren't going to get arrested.

Plus, baton rouge is majority black. So it would make sense more blacks get arrested in baton rouge or have run ins with officers.

I don't think it totally changed his mind. But he let up on the cops are racist bs.

You should've gently told this "associate" that this was an inappropriate and unprofessional topic to be discussing in the workplace, and that you're not comfortable with it. Then, if he persists, YOU take it up with HR.

It's called jumping the gun on them. Play THEIR game, only play it better.

Sounds like inappropriate conversation in the workplace. Turn the tables on him and be super offended and then go to HR.

Tell him he is an idiot. It was in Louisiana and felons cannot have guns. End of story.

I'm pretty good at starting flame wars on facebook with these kind of topics. It's like throwing a grenade and then watching everybody tear each other apart.

I worked in the same situation where the three AA felt free to discuss their misinformed beliefs. One day they came up with: Trump was going to deport all AA out of the country. I just started laughing which pissed them off.
I asked where is he going to deport you to? The answer was Africa of course!
It was a real treat listening to the BS these people came up with and believed. 95% of the time I tried to calm them down with facts and reality, but that 5% was too good to pass up.

Are you scared to hurt their feelings? He was obviously not worried about what you think. Speak your mind and don't be a pussy

Uhh, at work, you keep your mouth shut.

Stick simply to facts and do not get flustered. Do not give opinions.

SJWs only yell and scream about emotion and hypotheticals. They never argue facts. They try to get you to chase them down rabbit holes and then attack you.

Stick to the facts in a calm consistent tone of voice and it'll drive them insane.

Politics and controversy do not belong at work. Don't engage, it won't do any good, and it frequently costs good people their jobs. Companies tend to lean towards the "oppressed" in these arguments, and will directly or indirectly punish people who disagree

Nothing good can come from talking about controversial shite in the work place. Do what you have to do and get the hell out of there. Ideally you're not friends and don't socialize with the people you work with. Keep that shite separate.

I never strike up that debate but if they start I'll engage and I give my honest opinion. I absolutely do not believe oppression based on race exists today.
