Y'all have to be consistent with the aoki is crap talk. He will have a 2/3 game next time out and everyone will say he is hitting his career numbers. Blah blah. Dude is a black hole in the lineup. I have been saying this for a month. Besides that his defense is horrendous. I still think he would be a good 4th of guy but we have jake for that.

I am deadly consistent baw. He is not the Aoki of his younger days, and that makes him a 35-year old non-MLB player. A couple of hollow two single games don't change my mind. His first couple of weeks were a mirage.

It appears Giles will pitch the 9th.
Posted on 6/25/17 at 5:49 pm to Lsuhoohoo
The rest of the pen did their job. Let's see if that shames Giles into throwing strikes.

I got bashed the first time I said aoki should be dfa. Jwho remembers.
Posted on 6/25/17 at 5:50 pm to Jwho77
And I was wrong about Giles. I thought he would take a step forward this year to be an elite closer. Boy was I wrong.

I do remember. And from that point when we said give him time to sink or swim because we are winning a ton of games, Aoki has sunk. Congrats, you were ahead of the curve.
But we have wanted him gone for many weeks, and Fisher's brief time in the bigs only fanned those flames. Aoki is washed up.

He's a flake with elite talent. Not your fault. It's his.

It's a sticky situation because ideally Fisher would be traded instead of Tucker but if we trade Fisher there's no legit replacement available. Maybe more Marwin in LF and bring Teo up to get some playing time.

Nori has been one of our better hitters in June.
.326 4 doubles .356 OBP
April .300/.338
May .212/.271
June .326/.356
I mean he's a platooned slappy singles hitter at the bottom of the lineup who gives you a decentish chance of turning the linuep over for Springer.

'Member when Gattis hit homers?
Posted on 6/25/17 at 5:57 pm to Lsuhoohoo
He has spike games but his good numbers even lie. And his defense is so bad.
Gattis remembered how to Gattis!

I don't know what people expect for the 8/9 hitter in the lineup. What upgrades are out there?
I'm not a fan of Aoki, but I don't think he's as near the problem people expect. I encourage yall to look around the league and see what the 8/9 hitters on other teams are doing. Last I checked, we had the top 7-8-9 hitting in the league. I HIGHLY encourage a focus on the starting pitching when it comes to personnel changes.
Aoki doesn't even play everyday. Who are you going to go out and get?
Astros are 2nd in the league in runs scored...let shite play out.

Our best AAA hitter at the moment who did not look out of place when called up.

No one is talking about a trade for a bat over a starting pitcher. But should one more veteran rental bat like a J.D. Martinez be off the table, especially if Fisher is dealt for the pitcher we need?

This is our 8/9 hitter we're talking about...there isn't any team in the league that is going to have an Jose Altuve talent hitting 8th or 9th...NONE.

You'd have to trade for J.D. Martinez. Who are you going to trade to get him?

He still wouldn't play everyday, and this seems really clear at this point. How does that help him?

For the record I'm not in favor of trading for a bat. I'd rather teo or fisher(if not traded), or marwin: however jd would be a rental that wouldn't cost much.
