Wireless phone service prices are falling at fastest rate ever recorded

From the Wall Street Journal:
Customers are used to cellphone bill shock, but not like this.
The cost of U.S. cellular service is rapidly plunging, reversing years of increases that have squeezed consumers’ budgets and generated huge profits for wireless companies.
Americans are using their smartphones more than ever to stream videos, surf the web and browse Facebook. But telecommunications companies are losing their power to raise prices for using their networks, in part because the U.S. cellphone market is nearing saturation. That has kicked off a vicious price war among the four national wireless carriers.
The consumer-price index for wireless phone service, an indicator of current offers from cell phone service providers, dropped 12.5% in May from a year ago, according to the Labor Department. The index earlier fell 13% in April, the largest decline in the history of the category, prompting Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen to say earlier this month it was a factor in the country’s low inflation.

OK. So, without a bunch of Money Board words, tell me when my bill is going to go down.

An ATT tech told me a while back that everything will be wireless within 5 years. No more wired internet.

You have to call them to ask for a lower plan. They're not going to call you and ask for less money. Don't get lazy.

None at all or none through AT&T?

None through AT&T but I guess that also implies none at all. If they did it I doubt they would be the only ones.

Interesting...
AT&T has raised my rate by $5 twice over the past 15 - 18 months. Been with them about ten years. I'm paying ~$93.50/month.
I've got a 26 month old iPhone6 and I don't want to buy another phone, but I think l'm paying too much.

Give them a call and see what they have for a lower data plan. I have ATT but use a ton of Wifi and not that much data through their network. Paying about 70 per month w 3 gig, I think.

For a family of 4, with unlimited everything - no strings attached, I pay $100.00 plus tax and fees. So about $116.00 per month.

I'm grandfathered in on one of their old Unlimited Data plans. I've got 3 days left in this month's cycle and I've used 13.7 gigs. I rarely get on Wi-Fi.

Gotcha. I was on the same grandfather until I decided he was too expensive for my liking. Dumped it. Changed my habits and saved about $45.00 per month. It's all a rip off.

And we'll still have people complaining about how all those radio waves are going to kill everyone.

ProjectFi: $45.63 last month, including the phone.

I pay $100/mon for 15 GB + rollover, plus $15/mon/user. Currently carrying 4 users for $155.
Family/shared data plans really are the most cost effective way to go.

You expect them to just up and lower your bill for no good reason since you continue to pay it?
Call and threaten to switch or actually switch.
