I'll be in that part of town for a couple of days with nothing to do. Any good food to be had in that part of town? Any/all types and price points welcome.

Side question, where is the best 10 napkin poboy in that part of town?

Gentilly is pretty much a wasteland for restaurants and good bars.

There's also Cafe Gentilly next door. They close at 2pm.

Agree, but it doesn't seem like that far of a drive to the city park/ Esplanade area.

Sassafras restaurant for plate lunch/soul food and East of Italy for pizza and sandwiches. Both in the shopping center at corner of Franklin and Leon C. Simon.

Love Sammy's too.

Gentilly has jackshit. Just drive literally 5 minutes to Midcity or Lakeview.

Zimmer's has a phenomenal oyster poboy.

Good Times Sushi is solid also. BYOB to Good Times.

Thanks for the tip. Since it is so close to Gentilly, can you provide good places in mid city or lakeview?

Its not. the West section of Gentilly is a booming real estate area as well. Its only a matter of time before something gets established around there. Its an untapped market for a good bar/brewery/restaurant.

Seafood/PoBoy-Bevi,Parkway,Blue Crab, Station 6
BBQ-Blue Oak, Frey

Toups is probably the best all around restaurant along with Rue 127.

Great list but Ralph's on the Park may argue about who's the best.

Sante Fe, 1000 figs, Cafe Dega, Mo Pho to add .. tons more, including Lakeview.

Agree with all those. Especially Café Degas a true hidden gem. Ralph's is solid.
