Job offer and OT thoughts

Middle school PE teacher and Coach is my primary job. It's a cake job...honestly. Pay you know...is teacher pay. Never gonna break the bank but it's consistent, great benefits, summers and holidays off, etc...you know the deal. It is long hours during basketball and track season but again....off during the summer, holidays, etc. I work part time for a company during the year and full time during the summer doing a little sales and a little customer relations. An extra $800 a month.
Recently got offered a super-intendant job with a friend of mine doing some residential and commercial construction. Ideally, she wants me to be a PM for her company full time. She's a minority, female owned start up. She asked what I would need to leave the school system. I gave her my number and she's working on it. If she makes it work and I get in on the ground floor, salary could far exceed what I make teaching but it's for sure more hours. Another kicker is that I have a little one due in September.
Would you take the jump or stay with the consistent job in education? I"m sure there are numerous questions you may have so ask away.
TIA

From reading this board, if you stay it's only a matter of time before you're arrested for sexing up a student.

Does your wife work? And what's her health insurance like if so? With a little one due soon I wouldn't risk going to a small upstart company that will have shitty insurance if at all.

Always bet on yourself. Don't take the easy comfortable road. Don't be afraid of change or let the fear of failure get in your way.

Smoke a lot of weed in college.

That would support my weed habit and then some. I'd do it.

It is worth considering for sure, but it has to be nice to have those summers and holidays off.. A teacher's salary plus an extra $800 a month isn't that bad. What does your wife do? You can always go back to teaching right? So you can always see how it goes then go back to teaching..

My buddy called me last year about a position with him and the base pay was higher than I was making teaching and coaching 2 sports.
I work less, make tons more and I'm home with my family a lot more than those long game days or impromptu coaches meetings and volunteering for shite.
All in all, leave and don't look back!

Got a degree in Kinesiology. Became a college basketball coach for a few years. Got tired of being on the road so much, away from family, and away from fishing so decided to move back home and education was first offer I got so I took it.
